Concert roundup: Nine local shows to watch out for in November and December

The year 2015 is definitely wrapping up with a bang as concerts from the best local performers are expected to happen in November and December.

Whether you’re into pop, broadway musicals, ballads or rock, Push rounds up the nine shows that would suit your taste, expectations and budget.

1. Majasty

Maja Salvador’s first major concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on November 13 will feature performances for moms, teens, and kids alike based from her influences J.Lo, Britney Spears, Christina Aguillera, and Beyonce. Directed by Star Magic’s Johnny Manahan or simply Mr. M , Majasty is set to have at 18 to 20 production numbers from her and her surprise guests.

Heartthrob Matteo Guidicelli is making another huge step in his career by embarking on his first-ever solo concert. Months ago, Matteo, along with JC de Vera and Daniel Matsunaga, got a feel of the concert stage through their show Dreamboys. The Fil-Italian star will be performing the “songs of his heart” together with guests Morissette and Martin Nievera on November 28 at the Music Museum.

 Prince of R&B JayR couldn’t be any happier that he’s finally coming back on the concert scene after a two-year hiatus. His two-day weekend concert series will be happening on November 6 and 7 at the Music Museum. Among the Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 1 participant’s guests are Kris Lawrence, Mika Javier, Dee Jay Poblete, and Q-York.  

4. Flying High

Queen of R&B Kyla for her part is marking her 15th year in the business with a concert on November 20 at The Kia Theater in Cubao. Among the things that she would be singing are her hits like “Hanggang Ngayon” and the popular version of “On The Wings of Love” which is the theme song of the same-titled primetime soap starring James Reid and Nadine Lustre. The multi-awarded singer will be joined onstage by her guests KZ, Erik Santos, and JayR.


 5. The Milby Way

 Sam Milby is also marking his decade-long career in showbiz with his first ever major concert in November at The Kia Theater. The Rockoustic Heartthrob will be serenading his audience with his hits “Mahal Pa Rin” and “Hindi Kita Iiwan” together with his rendition of “Wherever You Will Go” and “Only You,” among others. Sam is expected to take a trip down the memory lane during his concert together with his guests Piolo Pascual, Yeng Constantino, KZ, Gerald Anderson, Enchong Dee, Rayver Cruz, Angeline Quinto, and John Prats. 

6. Regine at The Theater

 For the first time in her 30 years in show business, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is staging her first-ever non-pop concert series titled Regine at the Theater at Solaire on November 6, 7, 20, and 21. The Asia’s Songbird is finally fulfilling her longtime dream of bringing together and performing the famed songs from musicals here and abroad. As a fitting tribute to the stage pieces, Regine also tapped thespians as her guests and they are Aicelle Santos, Jonalyn Viray, and Audie Gemora.  


7. Ryan Ryan Musikahan

Maestro Ryan Cayabyab’s former late-night musical show is finally hitting a larger stage and for a good cause. Happening on November 6 at the Mariott Grand Ballroom, Maestro Ryan’s show with guests Piolo Pascual, Nikki Gil, Klarisse (The Voice Season 1) and Ogie Alcasid will be for the benefit of the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth.

8. Huling Sayaw

Filipino rock legend Kamikazee will be bringing down the curtain on their 15-year colorful musical career via a concert at the Araneta Coliseum on December 10. The all-star concert was announced early this year following the band’s decision to disband in order to explore life outside of their group. 


9. From the Top

Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo’s second concert this year will bring her once again to the Big Dome on December 4. Directed by Paolo Valenciano with musical direction by Louie Ocampo, this concert is dubbed to be “one of the biggest and grandest concert of the year.”
