April Boy Regino hopes the public will support his new album.
Nineties Jukebox King April Boy Regino performed on It’s Showtime today during the program’s segment “Singing Mo ‘To.” It was his first time to perform live after being on hiatus for two years in showbiz. The singer also gave away baseball caps, a tradition he does every time he performs.
Hosts Billy Crawford and Karylle asked how he is doing and April Boy answered, “Eto po mabuti naman kaysa dati. Dalawang taon na, dalawang taon na akong ‘di nakaka-kanta. First time ko uling lumabas sa TV, maraming salamat sa (It’s) Showtime!”
April Boy then emotionally shared that he has a new album entitled Hesus Tanging Hiling.
April Boy also gave a message to his fans.
April Boy rose to fame during the 90s. In his past interviews, he shared that his mother helped him to produce his first album. They eventually got professional help from Ivory Records and the rest as they say is history.
His first notable single was “Sana’y Laging Makapiling” which received Gold and Platinum awards. His career prospered and he continued to produce songs like chart-toppers “Ye Ye Vonnel” and “’Di ko Kayang Tanggapin.” He also sang the theme songs of noted teleseryes like Esperanza and Pangako Sa ‘Yo.
Despite his success in the showbiz industry, April Boy had several health issues that temporarily retired from performing. He was first diagnosed with a prostate cancer in 2009 but he is miraculously cured and is currently in remission. However, he was shortly diagnosed with a heart illness followed by diabetic retinopathy, which caused his blindness. The singer got surgery, which eventually restored his sight.
It was at that time when he embraced the presence of God and realized that wealth is nothing if you don’t believe in God.
