Sam Milby took the time off from Philippine showbiz recently and flew to the US to give his Hollywood dream a shot. According to the actor, going through various auditions, the whole experience itself, has been a massive learning experience for him.
“For me one of the greatest things I still really appreciate is the experience that you get. I took some classes and being in front of the camera, right in front of your face, dealing with nervousness, doing an audition, you will learn a lot from the experience. It makes you a better artist,” he said in an interview with StarStudio magazine for its November issue.
The actor stayed in the US for three months but was not able to land a job but he believes it is all part of the process. “Even established artists there (in the US) take time to audition. The people, the networking, are invaluable. When I was in Los Angeles, kasabay ko sina Mandy Moore, Jamie Chung and these are big-time actors.”
Will he still give his Hollywood dream another shot? “I still want to pursue it. Pero siyempre may mga commitments ako dito sa Philippines. Pero kung may time pwede akong pumunta doon para maka-attend ng classes, I will kasi ko rin mag-grow,” he said.
Sam is now back in the Philippines doing various projects. He is presently celebrating his 10th year in showbiz. Amid his many successes in the entertainment industry, Sam is happy when he hears people say how he remained humble throughout his journey.
“I appreciate the fact that it’s been 10 years na and then ang bilis ng turn-over sa showbiz. Pero at the same time, I like to think that I haven’t changed in some ways. Like it makes me happy that they still say to me, ‘You know, Sam, you haven’t changed; you’re still nice, hindi lumaki ang ulo mo because of showbiz.”
