Gerald Anderson admits he does not worry about getting bashed anymore.
In his latest Star Cinema project Everyday I Love You
, Gerald Anderson plays the role of Liza Soberano’s boyfriend who is in a coma. Playing a passive role for most of the film proved to be a bigger challenge than even the heaviest dramatic scene according to the Kapamilya actor. "Ang pinakamahirap gawin na
scene yung natutulog ako. Sobrang hirap talaga
nun para sa akin kasi
, may ADHD pa ako so parang ang hirap na nandun lang ako
the whole scene. Yung isang shooting day buong araw yun ang kinunan nakahiga lang ako,” he recalled.
Gerald also said he never had a problem acting alongside one of the country’s hottest tandems, LizQuen (Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil). "Hindi importante kung sino yung artista na makasama ko, kung sino yung love team. Ang importante kung kaya ko bang buhayin yung role na ito, mabibigyan ko ba ng justice at maging interesting ba siya sa tao. It’s irrelevant kung sino yung makakasama ko. Ang importante is ma-cha-challenge ba ako dito, magiging mas magaling na actor ba ako pagkatapos nito? You have to think about your passion and your craft kasi yung kasikatan namin, yung pera namin, the lights and the camera, one day mawawala lahat yan but yung passion mo for your craft maiiwan yan for people na susunod sa iyo,” he explained.
The 26-year-old Kapamilya actor admitted he was more worried about his chemistry with Liza onscreen. “Kasi first time namin magsasama ni Liza. LizQuen yan eh so meron na silang chemistry di ba? Kaya nga sila ang isa sa pinaka-hot na love team ngayon so the challenge para sa akin is paano kami magkakaroon ng chemistry ni Liza dito kasi girlfriend ko siya eh sa simula pa lang ng movie,” he said.
But even when the movie was first announced, Gerald said he experienced no kind of bashing or criticism whatsoever from the love team’s fans. "Sa simula pa lang ng career ko madami ng nag-ba-bash so walang bago dun. Actually mababait yung mga fans nila. Na-meet ko rin sila sa Laguna,” he added.
When it comes to dealing with critics, Gerald said that his almost a decade’s worth of experience in showbiz has taught him a lot about dealing with people. "I think at the end of the day kasi sobrang supportive ng lahat so we just want to give you guys a good project. Kung may nega man wala tayong magagawa, it’s part of life. There are worse things that happen so hindi naman ako maaapektuhan. Siguro kung five years ago baka sensitive pa ako about thing slike that but now as an actor, siyempre I’m a thinking and working actor, basta may trabaho at nagugustuhan ko yung ginagawa ko, it doesn’t matter,” he shared.
With Maja Salvador’s solo concert coming up next month, is Gerald planning to show his support for his ex flame? "Wala bang compli ticket para libre na? (laughs) Siyempre pag ininvite ako why not? Isama ko buong friends ko at family ko para at least di ba? Kahit VIP pa kung invited ako,” he said.
After becoming single again this year, Gerald said he is in no hurry to start dating again. “Well siyempre andiyan ang pamilya pero kung sa love life wala pa. Kumbaga darating yun so hindi naman ako nagmamadali,” he said.
