As part of the upcoming Star Cinema movie Everyday I Love You, Gerald Anderson said he did not consider it a factor that he would joining the love team project of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano. "Well kasi ako yung tipo ng artista na pag tatanggap ako ng proyekto dapat talaga yung ma-cha-challenge ako, yung matatakot, yung mahihirapan ako kasi wala kayong makikitang bago kung hindi ganun. And of course it took convincing kasi hindi pa ganun kabuo yung storya tapos kumbaga first time ako na gaganap ng ganitong klaseng role. But kung paano nila in-explain and how direk did the movie, pagsisisihan ko ito kung hindi ko ginawa. Every project gusto ko iba iba yung pinapakita ko hindi lang puro romantic lead or action star or drama sa soap or may ka-love team ako. Kailangan iba iba and I’m very happy with the outcome,” he shared during the Everyday I Love You grand presscon held last October 18 inside the ABS-CBN compound.
Ever since he joined the initial season of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition almost a decade ago, Gerald admitted he has grown a lot as an actor. "Siguro five years ago dun ako nag-sa-start na ma-in love sa acting talaga and it became my passion and now that I’m 26 years old, mag-te-ten years na ako next year sa show business. Ang gusto ko yung proyekto or yung role na hindi siya ganun ka-importante kung malaki or maliit. Puwede akong maging support, puwede ako maging yung passerby, ang importante is kung gaano siya kaimportante sa storya, kung interesting ba siya, makaka-relate ba yung mga tao. Ma-cha-challenge ba ako as an actor to be better after this project or is it just going to be a project na pagsisisihan ko? So yun yung mga questions na pumapasok sa isip ko,” he explained.
The 26-year-old actor said he wants to keep doing challenging roles. "At this stage of my career kasi siyempre nagawa ko na yung mga rom-coms and iba ibang klaseng movies. Hindi ko naman sinasabi na hindi na ako babalik but of course I want to show something different sa audience ko at sa fans ko. As a person and as an actor gusto ko ma-challenge ako sa bawat project. Iba na rin yung mindset ko as an actor,” he added.
Now that he is admittedly single ever since splitting from Maja Salvador earlier this year, Gerald shared what he has learned from his past relationships. "Ako kasi when a relationship is over, always gusto mo maalala yung mga good moments niyo kasi siyempre that’s why you’re in a relationship di ba? Tulad ng lahat ng relationships maraming mga ups and downs. Ako naman kung ano yung mga nagawa kong mali, kung ano yung mga nagawa niyang mali, you just learn from that. And sana sa susunod (na relationship) you’re a better person na. Not only a better person but a better partner. Kasi minsan you can be the best person in the world but you’re not that good a partner. Aminado ako I was like that. Para sa susunod I’ll be a better person and a better partner,” he admitted.
