Albie Casino on being dubbed ‘Ang Pambansang Bully’: ‘Salamat sa mga nagagalit sa akin’

101615-ALBIE_main.jpgWith his role as the stubborn and persistent Jigs on the series On the Wings of Love, Albie Casino said he is happy to be given a chance to make a comeback in showbiz. "Sobrang overwhelmed ako. Gusto ko mag-thank you sa management, kay sir Deo Endrinal. Thank you for giving me the opportunity. Thank you na rin sa mga fans na tumanggap sa akin and thank you sa lahat. Ang saya ko lang ngayon,” he shared during the On the Wings of Love Media Day held last October 12 inside the ABS-CBN compound.

The 22-year-old actor plays the role of Nadine Lustre’s ex-boyfriend who still continues to pursue her even if she has moved on already. Because his role always tries to get in between James Reid and Nadine, fans of the show have dubbed him the “Pambansang Bully,” a label which Albie doesn’t mind. "Natutuwa naman ako kasi that means I’m doing my job well. So salamat sa mga nagagalit sa akin (laughs). Iniintindi ko lang si Jigs bilang tao kasi hindi naman siya masama eh, kulang lang siya sa pagmamahal. Kasi hindi niya maramdaman yung pagmamahal ng mom niya, wala siyang tatay tapos iniwan pa siya ni Lea so maraming dahilan,” he explained.

Albie says he tries not to let overzealous fans or bashers affect him because he knows it is nothing personal. "Parang wala naman ata akong bashers. Joke lang. To be honest, yung mga fans na yung nag-de-defend sa akin eh. Kumbaga nagpapasalamat na din ako sa fans ng Jadine kasi ang warm ng welcome nila sa akin and hindi naman nila ako bina-bash. Ipinagtatanggol pa nila ako so sila na lang bahala sa akin,” he added.

Playing Cherry Pie Picache’s son on the romantic series also helped Albie with his acting skills. “Most of my scenes kasama ko si Miss Pie so gusto ko talaga na dalhin ko yung A game ko, ayokong mapahiya yung sarili ko pag kasama ko siya so it tends to bring out the best in me also,” he admitted.

Working with one of the hottest pairs in showbiz is not hard according to Albie. "Alam ko naman na mabait sila. I’m having a lot of fun working with everyone on On the Wngs of Love. We’re all just having fun on set and I think it shows kasi ang ganda ng palabas namin sa totoo lang and that’s because everyone is really having fun and putting their best effort in sa work so kita naman sa product namin,” he said.

With the series all set to be extended until February next year, Albie considered this a big blessing for all the cast and crew. "Thank you sa lahat. Get ready for more kilig. Mas maiinis kayo ulit sa akin (laughs) yun lang po,” he shared.

When it comes to his personal life, Albie says he is not in touch anymore with his ex-girlfriend Andi Eigenmann. In fact, he denied reports he had her daughter Belle undergo a DNA test. "Paano ko naman napagawa yun eh hindi naman sila pumayag. Ba’t ako yung gumawa nun ‘di ba? I’m not really updated with that anymore because they choose to not update me. So I’d rather just not. No comment,” he admitted. When asked if he would greet Andi if he ever crossed paths with her in ABS-CBN, Albie did not hesitate to say, "I don’t care."

The Kapamilya actor said he would rather focus on being a better person instead on dwelling on problems of the past. "I’m just trying my best. I’m my worst critic so I’m not saying I’m doing a good job but I really wouldn’t say I’m doing a bad job. I’m just doing my best. The problem with things like that, yung vindication is you can only really vindicate yourself. And for me I’m okay. I’m over it. It’s the past. I don’t dwell on it anymore. Right now I’m all about the present and the future. So thank you,” he explained.
