Jhong Hilario reveals he is running for public office in 2016

101315-JHONG_main.jpgJhong Hilario revealed that he is running in the 2016 elections as councilor in Makati City. The It’s Showtime host said that he chose to enter politics because he wants to continue the work of his father in his barangay in Makati who is about to end his terms as a councilor. “Gusto kong ipagpatuloy ko kung ano ang nasimulan ng tatay ko na talaga namang wala akong masabi sa paglilingkod niya doon sa tao at sa Diyos kaya ‘yun ang gusto kong gawin,” he said in an interview at the Walang Iwanan presscon.

Is he leaving showbiz if he wins? Ako councilor lang so bakit di ko kayang pagsabayin,” he said.

Jhong shared that his co-hosts on It’s Showtime are very supportive of his decision.

According to Jhong, Kim Atienza was one of the hosts who gave him advice about politics.

Jhong will be running under the Una party list of Jejomar Binay. With the many issues involving the Binays currently, Jhong remained unfazed about it. Kumbaga parang ano yan eh kung ikaw nasa taas ka talagang babatuhin ka, talagang may masasabi sa’yo so ‘yung mga tao don nagkakaroon ng confusion,” he said. The host said that he fully supports the Una party list.
