Almost a month since he was last seen on TV, King of Talk Boy Abunda finally confirmed that it was indeed due to his health condition that he was forced to take a short break from the limelight.
In an exclusive interview on The Buzz aired on Sunday, Boy shared that after a series of tests he then underwent a medical procedure called aspiration of the liver abscess, which drained over 300ml of abscess from his liver. Being in the hospital for over two weeks after the procedure, according to Boy, had cost him to lose 25lbs.
Ang sakit sakit po ng aking nararamdaman,” he said. “My stay in the hospital humbled me.”
According to him, his doctor told him that he had been “running too fast” thinking that he was “invincible.” He deems that his recent health ordeal was the Lord’s way of reminding him that he can’t just shoulder everything.
More than worrying about his personal health, Boy, who was known for his avid love for his mother, emotionally shared that he had his ailing Nanay in mind the whole time that he was sick.
I don’t wanna die. Ayokong mamatay,’” he said.
To make sure that his Nanay, who already has mild dementia won’t worry about him, Boy shared that they opted to tell her that he was abroad while he was confined at the hospital.
Amid his tough ordeal and his absence on air without any notice, certain speculations were formed, chief among them was that he supposedly already died due to colon cancer.
It was his lifetime partner Bong Quintana who actually saw the rumors online during their last day of vacation in Amanpulo recently.
The Aquino & Abunda Tonight host noted that while he thinks it’s “unfair” for certain people to spread such malicious rumors, he acknowledges the fact that he has “died” several times due to the pain he experienced while he was in the hospital.
Instead of fuming due to such rumors, he said, “Sa lahat sa inyo na nagnais na sirain ako, may intent man o wala, pinapatawad ko kayo.”
Apart from forgiveness, the King of Talk also extended his gratitude to his family, friends, colleagues, partner and two special friends who have been there for him during his recent “bad fall.” They were Kapamilya stars Kris Aquino and Gretchen Barretto.
Now that, as he says he is 90% on his way to a “joyful and great recovery” the question is when is he coming back?
“Of course I would continue my work on television. I should be back really soon. I will be back. If you want a date, malay po natin. Next Sunday September 14, baka magbukas napo ako ng Buzz,” he ended.
