Lyca Gairanod says debut album already in the works

For starters, she made her successful acting debut with a record-breaking Maalaala Mo Kaya episode some weeks ago. Lyca’s acting workshop with actress and acting mentor Malou de Guzman has seemingly paid off as she landed yet another spot on primetime soap Hawak Kamay starring Piolo Pascual.

In a recent interview with Lyca while on the set of the soap, the young superstar shared that she she’s having fun working with other young female stars like her namely Xyriel Manabat, Andrea Brillantes, and Yesha Camille.

The young belter took on the role of Lelet, a young, orphaned sampaguita vendor who became friends with the other young actors of the primetime show.

According to Lyca, being an actress made her look back on her humble beginnings. “Para pong naiisip ko po ‘yung dati nung sinasabihan po ako na umalis daw po kasi madumi tsaka namamasura. Ganon ganon po,” she said, adding that, “Tapos ngayon po lumalapit lapit na po sila sakin. Tapos po pinapahanap po ako nila.”

Apart from her foray into acting, Lyca will be part of this year’s Star Magic Ball which is happening on September 6. She said she will be coming to the annual spectacle together with The Voice Kids Top 4 finalists namely Darlene Vibares, Juan Karlos Labajo, and Darren Espanto.

Her debut album is already in the works according to Lyca. “’Narito Ako’ kasama sa album ko talaga,” she said. She also hopes to collaborate with some of her favorite singers on her album. “Si Ate Angeline Quinto and Ate Regine Velasquez.”

Lyca said she is very much aware of the criticisms thrown her way. At that moment of the interview, Lyca belted out Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” much to the surprise of the press.

“Akala nila hindi ako nag-e-English sinasabihan nila ako na ‘Nakakasawa naman ang Tagalog mo.’ Ayun po nagulat po sila na kumanta po ako ng English,” she explained.

While she has now opted not to pay attention to her bashers, Lyca said that she would prove them all wrong eventually.
