Moira was an active kid, but Ataxia has limited her way of life,” she told ABS-CBNNEWS.com
Moira has been legally adopted by Bunny's Fil-Am husband Thomas Greenway whom she married in the States in 2009. She talks about her illness with a positive mindset and wants more people to understand what she and other kids like her are going through. “I was able to do kickball and other little games that we did with other classmates. But right now I cannot do anything. It’s kind of like people are bumping into each other everywhere,” Moira said. “It’s like there’s a higher tendency for me to fall or something not good to happen. “Despite the difficulties, I feel blessed to be around people that care so much, and people that give me support,” Moira said.
Because Friedreich’s Ataxia in children has a more rapid progression and is often associated with vision impairment, scoliosis, diabetes, and serious heart problems, it's no wonder Bunny is always worried about her daughter's future. Moira's illness has now come to the point where she needs to be transported in a wheelchair all the time. “It’s so hard to think – are you going to lose your child?” Bunny said. “Is she going to last how many years? How’s the progression going to be?” she admitted.
Last September 20, Moira helped raised funds for the 6th Annual Walk 'N Roll for Ataxia in Long Beach, California. Her father Mo Twister sought support online via his social media accounts to help spread the word and donate for his daughter's cause. Moira ended up being the top fundraiser of the event. All proceeds of the event went to fund research and cure for Ataxia as well as to help provide programs and services for Ataxia families. “Thank you so much for helping me with your donations and your funds, and even just your prayers. It helps a lot. It is important to me to have all the support, even from people we don’t know. I wish that we can just find a cure for it already,” Moira admitted.
