Ciara Sotto on Sharon Cuneta’s depression: ‘She was able to rise above it agad’

<div><img src='' alt='092514-ciara_main.jpg' width='400' height='290' align='left' border='0'>As part of the cast of <i>Hari ng Tondo</i> which recently won the Cinemalaya X Special Jury prize, Ciara Sotto said she was happy to be cast as the battered girlfriend of Gian Magdangal in the gritty indie flick. “This is another film that I’m really, really grateful for. I’m so honored and blessed to be part of the film and I can’t thank God enough and sila Tita Bibeth (Orteza) for casting me because it’s a really good project. The message of the film is very real and dito sa <i>Hari ng Tondo makikita niyo na pantay pantay lahat ng tao, walang mayaman, walang mahirap</i>,” she shared during the <i>Hari ng Tondo</i> presscon held last September 24 at Dolce Latte in Quezon City.</div><div><br/></div><div>The <i>Hari ng Tondo</i> actress also revealed she is currently four months pregnant with her first child. “<i>Medyo mahirap</i> first trimester <i>kasi konting may maamoy ka lang nasusuka ka na. Palaging nahihilo pero ngayon hindi na ganun nabawasan na.</i> Usually<i> sa gabi eh,</i> I don’t know why. May time <i>na</i> I was eating Korean food <i>tapos biglang nilabas ko siya</i> so now <i>parang takot na ako kumain ng</i> Korean food for now. <i>Ayokong</i> <i>ma</i>-stress. <i>Sabi nila dapat daw habang</i> pregnant <i>hindi ako na-se-</i>stress, super positive<i> daw lahat ng iniisip ko and huwag daw ako masyadong magagalit, ganyan. Minsan parang natataranta ako palagi,”</i> she admitted.</div><div><br/></div><div>One of the biggest changes in her lifestyle now is not being able to teach her regular pole-dancing classes. “Siyempre bawal mag-pole dancing. <i>Yun yung ginagawa ko</i> everyday <i>tapos lahat ng</i> students <i>ko sabi</i>, ‘Teacher miss <i>ka na namin!’</i> <i>pero hindi na ako puwede magturo</i> for now. <i>Yung mga puyat hindi ko na masyado ginagawa kasi dati mga</i> 3 am<i> ako natutulog.</i> So <i>ngayon inaagahan ko na talaga</i> like 11 [pm] or 12 [am]<i> yung </i>latest.<i> Sa</i> food<i> naman, yung lahi kasi namin may</i> gestational diabetes so<i> binabawasan nila yung</i> sugar sa akin.<i> Eh mahilig ako ako sa</i> sweets at chocolates <i>sobra. Sa</i> six months <i>daw i-chi</i>-check<i> nila yung</i> glucose<i> ko pero sana</i> okay.<i> Ang daming bawal. Bawal magpunta sa patay, ewan ko ba. May mga sinasabi sa akin na parang ang daming bawal puntahan tapos bawal kumain ng raw </i>so<i> lahat ng</i> sushi <i>na ino</i>-order <i>ko hindi</i> raw (laughs).  <i>Yung mga kani, yung luto, may</i> tempura,” she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>Ciara admitted she is hoping to have a girl. “If <i>puwede mamili </i>girl <i>pero</i> for me<i>, sa tagal ko ng hinintay ito, parang wala na akong karapatang mamili</i> (laughs) <i>Kahit ano </i><i style=''>na lang ibigay</i>. I’m very excited, first baby. Actually they said <i>nung </i>ultrasound <i>ko parang </i>boy <i>daw yung nakita nila pero hindi pa sila </i>sure <i>kasi nga maaga pa masyado</i>,” she added.</div><div><br/></div><div></div><div><img src='' alt='092514-ciara_main.jpg' width='400' height='290' align='left' border='0'>When asked about her cousins Sharon Cuneta’s recent revelation of having gone through depression, Ciara is optimistic that it is not a major issue anymore for her “kinakapatid.” “I was just with her the other night. We had a reunion. Kita mo na sobrang positive na ate ngayon.; Ang ganda ng aura niya and she looks really good tapos meron siyang mga kinukuwento na updates about her na I really can’t say for now kasi mas mabuti kung sa kanya galing. Pero makikita mo na napaka-positive niya ngayon. She was able to rise above it agad. Although alam namin yun na na-depressed talaga siya, wala siyang gana, parang she was so unhappy. Pero siguro mid-life crisis yun and baka lahat naman tayo pagdaanan yun pero ngayon I think she has a better relationship with God din kaya nakikita mo na ang ganda ng aura niya now and sobrang saya niya,” she admitted.</div><div><br/></div><div>With her aunt Elaine Gamboa (mother of Sharon) currently in the hospital, Ciara said they have tried to provide a stronger support system for her older cousin. “Everyday nag-ti-text kami sa kanya and updates din about her mom so as a family, of course we want to keep checking on our tita and we want to keep checking on her din kasi baka naman siya yung hindi okay. Pero I can assure you that now she’s really in a good state,” she said. The 34-year-old actress says her aunt’s condition is improving although she is still being monitored in the hospital. “She’s better pero hindi pa (nakalabas) eh. Pero nag-i-improve naman daw pero they have to watch her closely,” she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>As a first time mom, Ciara said she is looking forward to having another kid right away. “Parang gusto ko sundan agad para playmates sila. Yung mommy ko nagtatatalon, excited siya dun sa baby kasi nga most awaited kasi nga ang tagal ko ng married tapos bunso ako. Four years na kaming married. Ngayon lang siya dumating. Hindi ko alam anong klaseng mom ako talaga. Cool aunt nga ako pero hindi ko alam kung cool mom or strict ba or wala. Taranta for sure, hindi ko alam, natatakot din ako. Sana kahit kasing kalahati lang ng mommy ko maging ganun ako para sa baby,” she said.</div><div><br/></div>
