A day after Daniel Padilla’s curt reaction to the rumored video recording supposedly featuring him was aired, the Teen King once again neither confirmed nor denied if it was really him speaking.
But, in an interview at the Araneta Center before he began selling tickets for the upcoming 2014 Himig Handog P-Pop Love Song Finals night this Sunday at the Big Dome, he shared that he learned a lot from this recent controversy that he got embroiled in.
“Nagpapasalamat na lang ako sa Diyos na binigyan niya ako ng ganitong problema at least pinatatag ako lalo at mas naging paladasal at mas lalo akong naging malapit sa Diyos. Nagpapasalamat ako dahil natututo ka sa mga pagkakamali,” he said.
One of those who expectedly defended him and expressed utter dismay on social media sites was his mother Karla Estrada. According to Daniel, this is nothing new from his mom since “Lagi namang ganon ‘yun, kahit ano laging affected ‘yun.”
Karla, in one of her tweets expressed her ire with a passion, with her even referring to Daniel’s latest detractors as “kampon ng kadiliman.”
To this the She’s Dating The Gangster star added, “Kahit ‘yung kapatid ko napikon eh kasi pati si mama dinamay eh. Affected si JC pero sabi ko ‘Hayaan mo na JC, hindi naman tayo mapupunta sa impyerno.’”
Apart from his mother, it was his legions of fans who without second thought also went up in arms when the issue came out. “Yeah sobrang thankful na andami kong nakitang mga totoong tao sakin lahat ng mga sumuporta sa akin,” he said.
But while he greatly appreciates all their efforts that they’re putting in to defend him from the bashers who saw this incident as an opportunity to tarnish his name, Daniel has but one request to his followers: “‘Yung mga taong na-involve ang pangalan nila tigilan na po natin. ‘Wag po nating idamay. Ako na po mismo ang nahihiya.”
The “Simpleng Tulad Mo” interpreter even underscored, “Basta ‘yun ‘wag na tayong mangdamay ng ibang tao dahil ako mismo ang nalulungkot. ‘Yung mga nang-aano sa social networking sites, tigilan na po natin hindi po ‘yan maganda. Ako nalang po ‘wag na ‘yung iba.”
As part of the phenomenal love team Kathniel with Kathryn Bernardo, a lot have wondered how the Teen Queen took this latest blow. When the rumor came out, Kathryn even posted a photo of her with Daniel with a caption that read: “Best guy ever.”
But many were convinced that Kathryn was anything but pleased with the controversy which was, as noted by many, became very visible during their recent stint at Bench’s The Naked Truth denim and underwear fashion show over the weekend.
“Lahat naman tayo alam naman nating nalungkot si Kathryn dahil misunderstanding eh,” Daniel shared adding that, “In-explain ko na lahat. Naintindihan niya naman at ‘yung yakap na ‘yun ay talagang pagpapasalamat kasi naintindihan niya ako. Kaya back to normal. Doon lang ako nagkamali, lalaki ako eh.”
Meanwhile, the video’s leak has raised a red flag for a good number of showbiz personalities. Among them were The Buzz’s hosts Boy Abunda and Toni Gonzaga during their show’s Sunday episode.
The two hosts discussed the idea that Daniel has been blatantly betrayed by someone he knows by both taking the video and releasing it without his knowledge.
To this Daniel said, “Wala eh. Ganong talaga eh. Kahit kanino nangyayari, Diyos nga eh ‘di ba ginanon, ako pa kaya?”
Instead of wallowing in despair over this new challenge in his career, Daniel opted to move on since, according to him, the person who betrayed him is someone whom he is “not really close” with “pero still a friend.”
Will this affect his working relationship with Jasmine Curtis, his co-star in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo, who is one of the names being dragged in the video? “Wala, sabi ko nga misunderstanding ‘yon,” he ended.
