Former PBB housemate Valerie Weigmann joins Miss World PH, Roxanne Cabanero backs out

091414-valerie-main.jpgThe Miss World Philippines pageant is turning into an interesting event as yet another celebrity, in the person of former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Valerie Weigmann joined the tilt as a contestant.

The model-actress, admitted in a recent interview with Rappler, that taking part in the pageant was a huge decision for her "Because I was thinking it through over the years actually of me experiencing modeling and showbiz at the same time. So it was good training for me."

More than being a platform to hopefully stretch her exposure, Valerie's determination to join actually stems from the cause that she's been hoping to further through the pageant.

"The really big thing that made me decided to join was really my personal advocacy which is Musikaramay. I try to help the indigenous people -our indigenous brothers and sisters from Tarlac, the Aeta community," she explained.

She added, I guess its not just about the beauty when it comes to Miss World. For me I can already feel how excited the candidates are of helping and reaching out not only for our Miss World organization projects we will be having, but the drive to help and raise awareness by using this platform."

But win or lose, she says she will still continue to be involved in Musikaramay saying that, "I will get together with my friends cause we're all involved in it. Musikaramay - its street music, so we're trying to raise money through street music."

But what is her specific task on this project that she got involved with?

I am the one in charge of talking to sponsors, and to different places where we could play around an play for the indigenous people," explained the former Pinoy Big Brother housemate.

Meanwhile, in an interesting twist just before the pageant night on October 12, an aspiring beauty queen has backed out from the tilt in the person of Roxanne Cabanero, the second rape accuser of Kapamilya star Vhong Navarro.

The online world went abuzz when last September 10, Roxanne was introduced as one of the candidates in the aforementioned pageant. Soon as reports of her being part of the candidates came out, Netizens took to their social media accounts to express their disapproval of her move.

Some two days later, a GMA news reported that Roxanne has already backed out from the pageant.

Kailangan eh. para maging fair naman sa bang candidates. And ma-focus ko din yung sarili ko sa kaso," she said.
