Teen King Daniel Padilla on Thursday renewed his contract with Star Cinema for another two years. The contract would allow him to make two films under ABS-CBN’s film production outfit.
Daniel shared that one of the two films would have him working once again with his Teen Queen Kathryn Bernardo.
“‘Yung isang movie sure, ‘yung isa tsaka na pagusapan. ‘Yung isang movie namin ni Kathryn magkasama uli kami at masaya kong sinasabi na Direk Cathy Garcia-Molina ulit ang director,” he shared.
According to him they would start shooting this new film before the year ends, which would mean that he would be working on with Kathryn for two projects this year.
While there has yet to be any confirmation from the management as to the title of the soap, reports have been going around recently that Kathniel would be reprising the roles of Angelo and Ina in the remake of the highly-successful soap Pangako Sa’Yo.
“Ngayon hindi pa ako sigurado talaga. Hindi ko pa talaga alam dahil wala pa kaming meeting na gagawin namin ‘yung teleserye na ‘yun,” revealed the She’s Dating The Gangster star, “Ang alam ko lang ay may teleserye kaming gagawin kasama si Kathryn sa first quarter ‘yan ng 2015 at ang director po namin si Direk Rory [Quintos] po ulit.”
Meanwhile, as one of the most in demand teen love teams to date, his tandem with Kathniel has been the point of comparison by many other emerging love teams. Most popular of which was the pairing of new Kapamilya stars James Reid and Nadine Lustre, more popularly known as JaDine.
Instead of making a fuss out of it, Daniel simply said that comparison is a non-issue for them.
“Mabuti ‘yun. Mabuti rin naman na may iba so walang problema doon. Hindi naman namin sinimulan siguro pero sa panahon ngayon, kami lang siguro. Pero ‘yun nga ‘yung mga sinasabi na ganon. Walang problema samin ‘yun. Mabuti na nakakatulong kami sa iba,” said he.
But are they threatened by other love teams?
“Samin ni Kathryn walang kumpitensya kumbaga wala tayong kalaban, kami naman ay nagtatrabaho lang. Kaya enjoy lang kami, ‘wag tayong maglaban-laban,” replied Daniel.
While Daniel is very calm in addressing the issue of having to compete with other tandems, their fans are seemingly headed towards the opposite direction. Reports have it that some of their fans have been involved in online word wars against fans of other love teams.
An obviously exasperated Daniel addressed the issue for the nth time and said, “Ilang beses ko ng sinabi na ‘wag ganon pero gusto yata talaga nila ‘yun eh. Okay lang ‘yun, gusto nila ‘yun eh. Hindi basta hindi naman kailangang magaway eh. Nagsisimula naman ‘yan sa may nagsalita tapos pinapatulan. So ‘wag nalang patulan ‘pag may nagsalita dahil hindi naman kailangan ‘yun. Hindi naman kailangan ng ganon.”
