Gretchen Barretto admitted that she got hurt over the misjudgments hurled towards her younger sister Marjorie Barretto over the latter’s current court battle for her daughters' Julia and Claudia Barretto’s last name reversal.
In an interview at a Karat World event, Gretchen shared “Normal lang naman na masaktan ng kaunti, tao lang tayo. Pero ang pagsubok sa buhay, dumarating talaga ‘yan.”
Gretchen notes that what makes every person different is “how we face it, how we deal with it, and how we react to every situation.”
Marjorie recently got embroiled in yet another controversy after she filed for petition at the family court to change the last name of her daughter Julia Barretto, whose real name is Julia Francesca Baldivia, to just Barretto.
“Prayers, prayers lang naman. Napakalakas na babae ni Marjorie, prayerful din siya. We’re not perfect, mayroon kaming mga kasalanan, so I think what we have is our faith in God,” she said about her sister.
The Trial star even highlighted that, “Bilib na bilib ako kay Marjorie, ‘yun lang.”
Reports have it the decision to change their surname was of Julia’s and her younger sister Claudia, an issue which Gretchen avoided to address.
“Okay, let’s not get to that, mukhang hindi na yun napag-uusapan. Julia is very young and I don’t want to go to that… If there’s anybody who should answer, let Marjorie and Julia be the one. When that proper time comes, who knows, baka sagutin nila next week. Let’s not talk about the kids because. ‘Pag ako, kaya ko, pero ‘pag mga bata, let’s protect them,” she reasoned.
Meanwhile Gretchen has one thing to say to Marjorie’s ex-husband Dennis Padilla. “Wala lang, goodbye,” she said.
Just last month, Dennis tearfully revealed about his plan to pursue challenging Marjorie’s petition for their children’s name. He even appealed to Marjorie not to involve the kids into their fight.
Speaking of children, Gretchen happily shared that her daughter Dominique Cojuangco will be here in the country for a few months to while away time for her school summer break.
“She’s very good, she’s very good. Nagtatrabaho,” she said adding that, “Magkakaroon pa ulit ng isa pang endorsement si Dominique they’re about to shoot.”
Just last April, Dominique was introduced as one of the newest endorsers of local brand Bench whitening lotion along with model Sam Rodriguez and Addie Manzano.
According to Gretchen, she lets Dominique have her way in terms of handling her work.“Hindi nako nakikialam because 19-years-old na si Dominique and technically she’s an adult. Siya na ang nakikipagusap, nakikipag-negotiate. Mas magaling siya sa nanay niya. I’d love to admit that,” Gretchen stated.
