The Voice Kids of the Philippines coach Sarah Geronimo remarked that she is happy that the grand champion of the competition came from her team, though she stressed that everyone in the top four deserved to be hailed as the winner. “Sa totoo lang sobra akong masayang-masaya para sa dalawa, para sa kanilang apat. Katulad ng lagi kong sinasabi deserving silang lahat whoever wins naman in the four talaga namang magiging masaya ako pero nanggaling sa team ko,” she said in an interview after the competition on Sunday night, July 27, 2014.
Sarah underscored that she immensely believes in the talent of Darren Espanto and Lyca Gairanod who are from her team. “Alam mo sobrang tuliro ako sa kanilang dalawa kapag nagca-campaign ako sa dalawa kasi pareho ko silang mahal, pareho akong naniniwala sa talento nila kahit sino manalo sa kanila okay na ako,” she said. The Pop Star Princess said that she is fortunate to have Darren and Lyca on her team. “Ako naman eh sinwerte lang na ako ‘yung naging coach nila, ng dalawang batang ‘yun, sila talaga ‘yun eh.”
Sarah commented that Lyca totally gave an outstanding performance during the Sunday night show. “Alam mo gabi talaga niya (pertaining to Lyca) ngayon eh. Si Darren sobra talaga siyang nag shine nong last night (Saturday night show) his rendition ng ‘Ngayon’ talagang powerful, talagang wow akala ko siya na talaga eh. Pero si Lyca tonight tinanong ko siya kung alam ba niya na grand finals na sabi niya ‘Opo,’ it was obvious sa kanyang performance. Kinanta niya ‘yung ‘Narito Ako’ far better sa pagkaka-perform niya last night,” she said.
Sarah remarked that it is not Lyca’s status in life that brought her the title but her talent. “’Yung bata talagang hindi mo mapagkakaila na dahil mahirap lang ‘yung bata talagang nandon ‘yung talent ng bata.” She stressed that though the title is important, what’s more essential is that all of the finalists will continue on becoming better singers “Ako ang titulo importante ‘yan ‘The Voice Grand Champion’ pero ang pinaka-importante sa lahat kung paano mo ‘yung sinimulan mo, paano mo ipagpapatuloy.”
Sarah said that she will continually support Lyca and Darren on their journey after the competition. “Definitely mahal ng pamilya ko itong dalawang bata ito,” she stated.
