Kapamilya star JM de Guzman is finally back into acting after two years of being out of the limelight--this time with more solid goals.
His sudden departure from the showbiz scene in 2012 left his fans wondering what really happened to the actor who has a promising career ahead. The 25-year-old star finally broke his silence in an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph and shared what he went through in the last two years.
"Nag-undergo ako ng sabihin na nating 'training' to be a better person.
Reports have it that JM's absence was caused by him undergoing rehabilitation from drug addiction, an issue which the actor himself confirmed. While he didn't go into details, those two years, according to JM, has molded him to become the better and more positive person that he is today.
JM's fitting comeback project is with the returning Ipaglaban Mo series where he plays the role of fish port kargador fighting for just compensation.
Though he admitted that he feels like he's back to square one in terms of acting and being onscreen, JM couldn't be any grateful that he was given the chance to act again especially since he didn't even imagine that it would be possible for him.
But even if he was able to come back, JM confessed that there were regrets that he was able to miss a lot of opportunities due to his bad decisions particularly since most of his peers have already made a name for themselves at this point.
Now that he's back, is he here to stay?
Experiencing such difficult phase in his life has taught JM a bunch of lessons, he related, "Marami pang dadating na problema. So lagi lang maging handa. Pamilya talaga."
On Jessy Mendiola
Meanwhile, with his disappearance unexplained presumptions surfaced in the past. Among them was that his separation from ex-girlfriend, Jessy Mendiola was the reported reason why he got depressed and turned to illegal drugs.
This was something that JM vehemently denied, "Hindi eh. Actually na-inspire niya nga ako noon until now."
He continued, "Mali po.
Despite their split, Jessy even wished him well and claimed that she's "waiting for his comeback" last year. But reports noted that Jessy's good wishes were slammed by JM's father saying that she has not even dared to reach out to his son.
When asked to clarify this issue, JM opted not to comment about it.
