Daniel on Lea's The Voice Kids comment about him: 'Baka nadala lang po si Ms. Lea'
Young box office star Daniel Padilla opted not to make a fuss out of the supposed derisive remark made by The Voice Kids coach Lea Salonga about him.
During his live appearance on The Buzz's Sunday episode, the Teen King even defended the Tony Award-winning actress-singer.
"Ayon nga narinig ko lang 'yon kanina po. And ayun nga po sabi ni Mama mataas po ang respeto natin kay Ms. Lea and baka nadala lang po si Ms. Lea [ng emosyon]. Hindi naman po 'yun issue so 'wag na po nating anohin [palakihin]," said the She's Dating The Gangster actor.
This issue was spawned by Lea's comment to Team Bamboo Juan Karlo Labajo's performance of Bruno Mars' Runaway Baby during Saturday's live finals performance.
I'm actually looking at you as a 13-year-old and seeing what you're going to be like five years from now. 'Yung mga DJ na yan, 'yung mga wala, sorry. Their names are going to be erased once you get to that age," she said.
"Because you are incredibly kasi ang charm mo talagang nagamit dito sa number na ito. 'Yung looks mo,'yung charm mo, talagang gamit na gamit na gamit. Your coach picked the right song for you, she added.
Daniel--who managed to penetrate the music scene through his three albums namely Daniel Padilla, DJP, and most recently, I Heart You, was also able to stage two successful concerts at the Big Dome--is also known for his nickname DJ, from his real name Daniel John.
The world class singer for her part on Sunday took to her Twitter account to "sincerely apologize" to Daniel for her comment after fans of the young actor called her attention.
Ohhh dear... I offer my deepest apologies to Daniel P and his fans. In building up JK I neglected to think that I might hurt other people," she explained.
Underscoring that she meant no disrespect, she continued, I humbly ask for forgiveness if that's how it came across. Sana mapatawad po ninyo ako sa aking pagkakamali.
