Yam Concepcion on finding new faith: ‘No regrets kasi I learned from it’

072614-Yam_main.jpgInitially launched in showbiz in 2012 as a sexy star, Yam Concepcion said she is happy to have found a renewed sense of faith after her first series in ABS-CBN Dugong Buhay ended last year. “Actually I went to Hawaii for ten days and then it was such a spiritual experience for me because I was one with nature and then I had so much realizations. Hindi siya ma-explain kung bakit o paano, bigla na lang siyang mangyayari sa ‘yo at mararamdaman mo na lang siya. Kasi one year akong hindi nag-simba. Ang tagal ‘di ba? I’m Catholic because I came from a Catholic school kasi nung high school ako and even in college so yun yung kinalakihan ko talaga but my beliefs are Christian teachings. They are actually almost the same,” she shared.

The Pure Love actress said she realized she needed to find herself after losing focus of what her direction in life was last year. She also had a short-lived romance with her Dugong Buhay co-star Ejay Falcon which she admitted in an earlier interview with Push. “One year akong hindi nagsimba. Tapos ilang araw bigla ka na lang magigising na parang may kulang, na parang I felt bad. Ang heavy. Alam niyo yung mabigat yung pakiramdam na minsan parang feeling mo yung energy mo, you don’t feel good about yourself. And then eventually sa Hawaii bigla na lang ako nagising and I had this realization to go back to God and to fix my life. At least once a week give time for God para rin to give me strength also kasi hindi naman ganun kadali ang buhay, ang dami mong pagdadaanan. So with the help of God you can do anything talaga. Mas may tiwala ka sa sarili mo kasi you have faith that God will never forsake you,” she explained.

When her daytime series ended almost a year ago, Yam admitted she did feel a little down not having a steady project for more than half a year. “Oo naman. Sino ba naman hindi maiinip di ba? (laughs) Honestly speaking nainip talaga ako. Kung anu-ano na nga pinag-gagagawa ko, bumili na ako ng projector sa bahay para lang may mapanuod, nag-DVD marathon na lang ako, ayun,” she recalled.

Despite all the challenges she has faced, the Pure Love actress said she is feeling positive. “No regrets kasi I learned from it at saka yun na yung pinaka-challenging ata na mag-a-acting ka ng ganun. So it made me stronger as a person also,” she added

Even with her new renewed faith in God, Yam said it does not mean she will show a more conservative image onscreen. “Sa tingin ko kasi when you show skin it’s part of work eh so it doesn’t really define you as a person and it doesn’t define your faith in God also. It’s basically just work so sa trabaho gagawin ko lahat para lang mapaganda ito and kung restriction man siya, siguro wala lang yung pakita ng mga katulad dati sa una kong movie,” she said.

Off-cam, Yam said she has no special someone right now. “Wala single. It’s empty (laughs). I only have God in my heart. Gusto ko siyempre ng relationship kaso wala talaga ngayon. Kung meron aba siyempre ipagmamalaki ko ‘di ba? Bakit ko naman siya itatago?” she said.
