Seasoned actress Sylvia Sanchez is not one to meddle in her son Arjo Atayde’s affairs and love life but she was very straightforward in saying that she likes Alex Gonzaga for him.
Early this month, Arjo opened up about wooing his Pure Love co-star and that he is willing to wait for her even if Alex claimed that her heart is “closed” for now
Sylvia, during an interview at the grand press conference of Be Careful with My Heart’s upcoming concert at the Big Dome on July 25 titled I Heart You 2: The Be Careful With My Heart Anniversary Thanksgiving Concert, was apparently aware of Alex’s current “status” and she even teases her son about it.
“Kinakanchawan ko nga eh, sabi ko, ‘Oh ano? Wala closed.” Sabi niya sa akin ‘O-open rin ‘yan!’” she said, even stressing that Arjo is not even depressed nor deterred by Alex’s recent declaration. She added, “Si Arjo kapag may gusto ilalaban niya ‘yan. Grabe ka-tiyaga na bata ‘yan.”
The actress said she has actually met Alex a couple of times when she dropped by the set of their new soap. “Siyempre kapwa kaming nasa showbiz.
She even revealed that her son has actually had a longtime crush on Alex which she, as it turns out, approves of.
Sylvia emphasized that she wouldn’t really mind seeing Arjo with whoever he chooses.
Despite being very supportive of her son’s decisions when it comes to his love life, Sylvia claimed that there had been times when she actually objected to his choice of women. She recalled, stressing that her 23-year-old son thankfully listens to her.
'Wag mong ilaban yung 'di tama,'” Sylvia narrated.
While their family won’t be the one spending the most time with Arjo’s future wife, Sylvia stressed that a harmonious relationship with your in-laws is always a good thing.
Speaking of future in laws, has she met Alex’s parents? “Ay kaututang dila ko si Mommy Pinty at si Toni,” she revealed with a laugh.
