Director Cathy Garcia-Molina defends the no kissing scene in 'She's Dating the Gangster'

In an interview at the after-party of the film, she underscored that Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo are too young to do a kissing scene. She also said that the kiss is not necessary in the story. </div><div><br/></div><div>'<i>Ako kahit gusto ng magpa-kiss nong dalawa aayawan ko. </i>They are young, they are 18, 19, if they were my kids I will not allow them. Why will I let these actors kiss on screen? <i>Ako ang</i> kiss<i> kasi para sa akin, may mga pelikulang kailangan</i> mag-kiss, <i>hind ito kasali don and ako hindi naman lang 'yun ang basehan ng</i> love story.<i> Parang kaya naman nating mag-kwento ng</i> great love story<i> kahit </i>without the kiss,' she said. </div><div><br/></div><div>She stressed that the right time will come for KathNiel to do a kissing scene but now is not that moment. 'In time when they're old enough magki-kiss <i>din yan </i>but now <i>ako talaga</i> not now, mommy<i> ako eh. Kasi hindi lang naman</i> kiss <i>ang pamantayan ng galing nabigay ng dalawa, ng ganda ng isang pelikula eh </i>so<i> sana pagbigyan, konting antay pa,</i>' the director remarked.</div><div><br/></div><div>Direk Cathy admitted that doing a movie adaptation of a popular book has been really challenging. '<i>Kasi grabe 'yung</i> fear <i>namin.</i> Remember <i>galing siya sa libro eh</i> so <i>maraming mga </i>bashers <i>na hindi daw kasi pareho sa buhok 'yung ganyan. </i>I know we could not please everybody but we tried to please as many as we could without offending the fans of the book,' she stated.</div><div><br/></div><div>She said that this movie has pushed Daniel to show something new to his audience. '<i>Maraming ginawa si</i> Daniel <i>na</i> never <i>niyang ginawa sa tanang buhay niya. Natuwa lang ako sa </i>trust <i>na binigay ni</i> Daniel <i>sa akin</i>, <i>sa</i> staff, <i>sa</i> Star Cinema. Napa-tumbling <i>ko talaga siya</i>, <i>napasayaw</i>,' she relayed. Direk Cathy also said that she is happy that Daniel and Kathryn have both shown growth in this new movie. 'I am so happy because I have seen it and I hope that people will see it from the teeny bopper <i>sila ngayon marunong na talaga</i> <i>silang mag-concentrate para ayusin ang </i>characterization <i>nila</i>,' she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>The director hoped that the movie will achieve box-office success.
