is Star Cinema's latest offering starring Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo. Coming from the success of their first movie Must Be… Love and the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Pagpag, Daniel and Kathryn have taken on challenging roles in a very interesting love story that fans would be delighted to watch on the silver screen.
She's Dating The Gangster tells the story of Kenji Delos Reyes, a rebellious teen who asks Athena Dizon, a 17-year-old student, to pretend to be his girlfriend to make his ex, Abigail Tizon (Sofia Andres), jealous. What started out as a false romance between Kenji and Athena (Kathryn) blossoms into a real one. Both of them realize later on that they have developed feelings for each other. But what has supposed to lead to a happy ending turns the other way around.
Daniel Padilla was a revelation in the film. His portrayal of Kenji is by far his most mature one to date. The actor has displayed superb acting skills and pulled off heavy drama scenes well, proving that he has successfully transitioned from a teen star to one of the most talented actors of his generation. He has successfully instigated “kilig” and pulled some major heartstrings with his performance.
SDTG has pushed Kathryn's dramatic side even further with her most mature portrayal to date. It is commendable how she invested so much emotion into her character while maintaining her usual charm. Kathryn has proven that she is an actress who knows her craft by heart. With this film, the actress has solidified her position in the movie industry.
More than anything else, Daniel and Kathryn have proven that their tandem has evolved and has grown over time. With their performance, they have affirmed that they have so much more to offer as a love team and that they can create a movie that will leave a mark on movie viewers. SDTG proves to be a new milestone for their tandem.
