After recently coming back from a trip to Jeju Island, Korea, where she visited a 3D museum, went on a yacht tour, did ice carving, and tried zip-lining, Jessy Mendiola said she can’t get enough of Korea. “What I love about Korea is they preserve their culture and at the same time they are modern, the people and the place. Whenever I go there I never get bored. This is my second trip there. This time, we visited Jeju island, it’s one hour away from Seoul, you have to take a ferry or like us we went by plane. Ngayon pumunta kami summer so pag end of the year winter naman,” she said during Korea Night event held last May 30 at the Shangri-la Makati hotel.
The Korea Tourism Office ambassador said she would love to be able to work on an acting project in Seoul someday. (laughs). Kasi open yung stores nila I think until 3 o’clock in the morning,” she shared.(cont.)
Before her trip, Jessy admitted she met someone during a vacation in Boracay whom eventually met up with her again in Korea. “Siya si Sebastian Gasca, friend ko. Sinurprise niya ako sa Jeju. He is Colombian. Dini-date? In my case, natuwa ako sa kanya kasi hindi naman kami ganun katagal na magkakilala but still he followed me to Jeju. We just talked about yung trips namin after Boracay and he said his last stop was Korea. So sabi ko, ‘Oh really? I’m going to Korea also.’ So siyempre ayoko naman maging hopia (laughs). Ayoko naman mag-hope na magkikita kami.’ So nung second night ko sa Korea yun sinurprise niya ako na andun pala siya,” she said.
Even though that have been in constant communication, Jessy said it is too soon to tell if Sebastian is planning to court her. But it feels like I’ve known him for a while kasi he’s very open. I think this is a classic case of someone really nice, parang someone travelling for a very long time and meeting people lang. Ayun, mukha namang babalik siya end of the year,” she said.
Now that he has flown back to his country, Jessy says she is happy just to keep in touch with him. “He has to study, he’s only 19. Wala naman kasi yun sa age, I think nasa pag-iisip yun, yung maturity, so nung nakausap ko naman siya mature naman siya. Wala pa naman, I’m just happy I met someone like him and he met someone like me,” she added.
When asked if she has plans to take up his invitation to visit him in Colombia, Jessy said she is not committing to a definite answer. “We’ll see. Kasi mamatay matay yung handler ko dito eh (laughs) at saka road manager ko sa schedules,” she said.
