Angel Locsin is proud that ‘The Legal Wife’ has empowered women

061814-angel.main.jpgA few days after The Legal Wife finale topped the ratings at 36.2%, lead star Angel Locsin remained on a high about how well-received her show was despite its sensitive subject.

"Ang taas ng ratings. Hindi ko ine-expect na para sa last na teleserye, ang late na nito and iba talaga ang pagmamahal ng tao so maraming maraming salamat," she exclaimed during an interview at the i-Shine Talent Camp 3 press conference on Monday where she would be an acting mentor alongside Teacher Georcelle who would mentor the dancing classes and Zsa Zsa Padilla who would take on the singing classes.

While many raved about the finale on various social media platforms which saw a remorseful Nicole and Adrian and a more determined Monica, a lot also thought that a "happy ending" featuring a reconciliation between the original couple would've been a nice alternative.

Agreeing to what Monica implied by giving back her wedding ring to her ex-husband, Angel said she believes that it's important to first heal yourself after a damaging relationship before making another major decision.

It appears that the show's women empowerment advocacy really did well as reports that the rate of adultery complaints have relatively increased during the show's airing. Angel said she sees this as a good thing particularly because "At least alam ng mga babae ang karapatan nila."

While fans tend to give credit to her and her co-stars Maja and Jericho Rosales for the success of the show, Angel reiterated that all praises should also be turned to her mother network.

With the sensitive topic that the show dwelled on, the award-winning star underscored that what their show was really aiming for is simply to empower and raise awareness in the society and not to destroy families.

As of the moment, Angel will be focusing on I-Shine Talent Camp 3 which would start airing on June 28, 10 am to be hosted by Dimples Romana, Xian Lim, and Matteo Guidicelli.
