After making an appearance in the role of Cristina on ABS-CBN’s Home Sweetie Home, the sitcom starring her ex-boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz, Ruffa Gutierrez said she couldn’t be any more thankful that she’s being tapped to be part of the show again. Ruffa, who plays the role of Romeo’s (John Lloyd) ex-girlfriend, revealed that she would be taping for the show soon.
While many were shocked by her appearance on the show, Ruffa said she believes that it was the positive reception of their onscreen reunion that paved the way for her return. “Ay, you know, unang-una siguro, maganda rin na nagsama kami ni John Lloyd sa Home Sweetie Home. Nakita ng mga televiewers yung rapport namin.
“Nakita nila na napakaganda naman ng feedback. You know, sa Twitter, mga comments, lahat ng nakapanood. So, puwede pala. 'Okay naman pala silang mag-partner sa isang project,'” she said during an interview at the press conference of their upcoming reality show It Takes Gutz to be a Gutierrez.
Did she have reservations when the role was offered to her? “Hindi ako nag-hesitate, nagulat ako. 'Ay, in-offer-an tayo ng ABS-CBN?' Okay na pala, game! Okay!” she recalled, laughing.
She continued, “All’s well that ends well, happy lahat. And like I’ve said, who wouldn’t want to work with someone like John Lloyd?”
Ruffa and John Lloyd’s almost one-year relationship started in March 2009. Their split back in February 2010, according to Ruffa’s previous tell-all interview, was precipitated by certain incompatibilities and the actor’s alleged excessive fondness for alcohol and for women.
Contrary to popular belief that their split had driven a wedge between them, Ruffa shared that they had already achieved a closure a long time ago. “Siyempre, hindi naman lahat ng nangyayari sa amin behind closed doors eh nalalaman ng publiko. Pero, like I’ve said, even before we worked together in Home Sweetie Home, nagkaayos na kami ni John Lloyd. Noon pa, two years ago pa. Pero siyempre, hindi lang namin ina-announce ‘yun,” said the beauty queen-actress.
She reiterated that, “Ang maganda riyan, maganda ang working relationship namin to the point na napakaganda ng feedback, na sa ngayon, kinukuha na nila 'ko ulit para mag-guesting.”
Would she be open to be a regular on the show if ever she would be offered to be one? “Well, at least, ‘yung usapan, ‘yun ngang character ko recurring, hindi naman every season,” she said adding that, “Siyempre naman, ayoko namang sirain ang pagsasama nila ni Toni (Gonzaga) bilang husband and wife. Pero ‘yung character ko, recurring.”
Meanwhile, Ruffa downplayed the possibility of her good working relationship with John Lloyd becoming a problem with the latter’s relationship with his real life girlfriend Angelica Panganiban. “Ay, hindi! Grabe naman,” she blurted out, laughing.
“Siyempre, ako naman, I respect relationships at ayoko namang isipin ng kanyang karelasyon ngayon na nandiyan ako, nakikisingit. Hello, friends na lang,” Ruffa added.
