Almost five years since coming out as BB Gandanghari, the actor-turned-fitness instructor said he is having a very good year so far and is excited to start the legwork on another upcoming action movie with his brother Robin Padilla. “It's very promising. May project na very interesting pero I can't say kung ano pa but watch out kasi maganda yung mga projects na gagawin. Binubusisi lang namin yung script but it will be done soon, malapit na. I'm in the thick of training. MMA fighter ang peg ko. Kasi na-de-develop ko yung passion na ito for kickboxing so I'm doing it mga ilang months na. It's part of the program that I'm doing. So now I think it's best na gumawa ng pelikula regarding that. Matagal na kasi naming pinag-uusapan itong project na ito, parang it's about time na mag-umpisa. Action drama comedy ito pero very interesting. Siguro yung script hinihintay namin yun last revision ng script. Hopefully we're shooting for mid-May pero nasa training na ako,” he shared.
Even though he revealed his brother Robin has slowly been accepting his transformation as a transsexual woman, BB said it is not true that they are also working on a movie about same-sex marriage. “Hindi pa ready si Robin sa same sex marriage (laughs),” he added.
During Kathryn Bernardo's recent debut, BB admitted it was the first time his ex-wife Carmina Villaroel (who attended with husband Zoren Legazpi and her twins Mavy and Cassy) was going to see him in his new persona. Although they were only a few feet apart, BB said it was not the right time to talk which is why he never made a move to approach her during the event. “Hindi naman sa sinadya pero hindi lang nagkaroon ng pagkakataon. Ang drama namin, so near yet so far, chos! (laughs). We were side by side actually. Wala eh, kasi walang nag-introduce sa amin so ganun lang yun. It's not the right time. Of course I can always say hi, wala namang masama. It's just that ayokong mapaglaruan at that time. Kasi if ever that was the first time na magkikita si BB at si Carmina so I guess it would be best kung sa isang mas private na place or something,” he explained.
As the uncle of Daniel Padilla, Kathryn's love team partner, he said he was still very flattered that Kathryn made the effort to reach out to him. “Mabait naman na bata yun, hindi ko naman siya kilala pero base sa naririnig ko kina Daniel, kina Rommel ay mabait naman na bata si Kathryn. In fact she invited me personally,” he said.
When he got his invitation, BB said he had no idea his ex-wife would also be there that night. He admitted it did not bother him because he was already prepared for them to meet up sooner or later. “Hindi ko alam. Hindi na (stressful), siguro nakalagay na sa isip ko yung napakaliit nitong mundong ito para sooner or later hindi kami magkita or magkausap ng aksidente. So nakahanda na ako dun anytime eh, hindi na ako natataranta ‘pag ganyan,” he said.
Admittedly still single at the moment, BB said he is not the type to keep his love life a secret from the public if the time comes for him to find a significant other. “Wala pa. Hindi, bakit ko naman itatago? Masarap naman yung pumupunta ako sa isang event na meron akong ka-holding hands (laughs). Ay naku, ganyan din yung wish ko kung kelan (laughs). Darating siguro one day but hindi naman yan isang possibility na iniiwasan ko eh. Siyempre tao lang tayo. Theme song ko sa buhay ko ngayon Sapagkat Kami ay Tao Lamang (laughs),” he said.
