Pokwang shares her well-kept recipes for the Lenten Season

Viewers always see Pokwang sharing her recipes on TV, often getting praises from close celebrity friends who have tried out her cooking. She admits that cooking is one of her passions and shares how it all started. “Kasi ang tatay ko isa siyang kusinero so every time na nasa kusina si tatay nandun ako palagi. Nakikialam ako sa kusina, tapos lumaki kasi kami na kami-kami lang ang sa bahay. Nanay ko kasi mananahi, tatay ko wala so kailangan talaga namin matuto ng mga gawaing bahay so ako yung nakatoka sa pagluluto.”
 
On television, especially on Kris TV, she often shares her favorite recipes or her one-of-a kind recipes with a twist. When asked how she comes up with these, Pokwang says, “Siguro malaro yung isip ko pagdating sa ganyan. Yung mga what if ganituhin ko yun, ibahin ko yung timpla, ibahin ko yung ingredients, maganda naman yung kinakalabasan, in all fairness naman. Unang-una kong pinapatikim sa anak ko kasi siyempre ang mga bata minsan mahirap pakainin so kung minsan naa-appreciate niya ayun, bongga.” 
 
She also admits that one of her dreams is to have her own cooking show. “Actually dream ko yan, dream ko yan na magkaroon ng cooking show why not. I love it!”
 
Below are two of her most well-loved recipes perfect for the Lenten Season. 
 
Cream of Corn Soup

Ingredients:
Oil
Onion
Garlic
Shrimp
Shrimp Stock
Water
Shredded Corn
Chili Leaves
Salt 
Ground Pepper 
 
Procedure: 
Saute onion and garlic in a well heated pan, with little amount of oil. When the garlic turns golden, add the shrimps. When the shrimps show its orange-y color, pour the shrimp stock, and add water as needed. Then add the shredded corn and put it into a simmer until the corn cooks. Season to taste. Add the chili leaves, then let it simmer for awhile. Serve hot. 
 
Rellenong Crabs

Ingredients:
Oil (for deep fry) 
Crabs
Green Bell Peppers
Kinchay 
Carrots
White Onions
Black Pepper
Salt
Raisins
Egg
 
Procedure:
First, steam the crabs. Make sure to separate the crab meat from the crab shell. When steaming is done, in a bowl, add the crab meat, green bell peppers, kinchay, carrots, white onions, black pepper, raisins and egg then mix it very well. After mixing is done, place the mixture in the crab shell then deep fry in a very well heated pan. Serve and enjoy!
