Almost a month and a half before his fight, pound-for-pound champion boxer Manny Pacquiao announced who would be singing the American national anthem at his second fight against Timothy Bradley in April. Pacman excitedly announced on Tuesday night that Ashanti would be singing the Star Spangled Banner at MGM Grand Las Vegas in Nevada on April 12.
"I am so happy that @Ashanti accepted my invitation to sing The National Anthem at my fight with @TimBradleyJr. on April 12. #PacBradley," he wrote. The Saranggani congressman likewise shared via a tweet that he and the singer met during the game between NBA teams New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers at the Madison Square Garden in New York City last month.
The singer even posted a photo of herself and Pacman on her Instagram account at that time with a hashtag that somehow hinted about this announcement which read "#talkedaboutsomedopestuffcominginApril." The Grammy award-winning singer rose to fame in 2002 through her chart-topping hits “What's Luv?,” “Foolish,” and “Always on time.”
The boxer's announcement coincided with the release of Ashanti's fifth album titled Braveheart on March 4.
Meanwhile, Manny has yet to announce who will be singing the Philippine national anthem for his second match against the American boxer.
