After joining showbiz as a contestant of Little Big Star in 2005 and eventually starring in Super Inggo, Makisig Morales said he is excited to go back to the small screen after landing a role in the new drama series Mirabella which started airing last March 24, Monday.
Makisig's character as a young boy will be portrayed by his younger brother Maliksi in the first few episodes of the show.
Makisig said he is lucky with his co-stars like Julia Barretto and Diego Loyzaga whom he has become good friends with. Pero pag talagang work, work talaga. Hindi puwedeng hindi seryosohin,” he said.
Makisig, who is currently a college freshman taking up Business Administration, shared that when he is not acting on-cam, he is busy portraying the role of Filipino saint Pedro Calungsod in a play which has been running for about eight months. Talagang may naiiyak, ang dami na-ta-touch,” he said.
The 17-year-old admitted he only had a limited time to prepare for the role, but it helped that he has always been a singer. “Mga three months kami nag-rehearse kasi nga gahol sa time kasi canonization ni Pedro Calungsod. Sinabay namin yung play. Musical play it kaya kumakanta ako.
The young actor said that he had to adjust a little when he started doing theater because of the challenge of being in front of a live audience. The show must go on kahit mabulol ka or magkamali ka. Kailangan mabawi yun,” he shared.
Mak also admitted he did not have an understudy which meant he had to take good care of his health and vocal chords.
He said he also tries to give brotherly advice to his two other siblings that are also in showbiz. Tinuturuan namin sila kumanta kasi yun yung talent na du kami namulat eh, yung pagkanta eh bago kami naging actor at saka kailangan balance. Kailangan meron kang time para sa studies,” he said.
At this point in his life, Makisig said he is not yet ready for a girlfriend although he has always had a crush on his former co-star Kahryn Bernardo. Ngayon pati si Liza Soberano at Julia Barretto. Paghanga lang naman po. Nakasabay ko once si Liza sa gym,” he said.
