Olivia Lamasan admits 'tarantado akong estudyante e'
020614-Olivia_main.pngIn her interview on Bandila for her latest film Starting Over Again, director Olivia Lamasan said that if she were to start over again she would be a better student. “Honestly, I would have studied better kasi tarantado akong estuyante e. I would probably have given more time, attention, and appreciation to gaining knowledge.”

The director of hits like Maalaala Mo Kaya (1991), Dahil May Isang Ikaw (2009) and The Mistress (2012) also said that the high expectation of people from an Olivia Lamasan film is “scary” for her.

As a director, she said she always thinks of what would appeal to the human in all of us. “My purpose as a filmmaker is to create stories that would be able to affect the audience. So, first and foremost kapag pumili ako ng kwento, 50 percent right away dala ko na maiintindihan ba o makakarelate ba ang audience?”

In Starting Over Again, Toni Gonzaga and Piolo Pascual team up for the first time in a movie and Olivia said the tandem worked because the two have great chemistry. She also shared how the team up came to be. “Sabi ko I would want to do another RomCom like Got 2 Believe, so tamang tama ito yung material na to, naisip ni Malou (Santos) na baka si Toni Gonzaga pwede, kasi sabi niya si Toni has been wanting to pair up with Piolo and it’s about time na mag-reunite kayo ni Piolo after a long time.”

Olivia also said that her favorite scene in the movie is the one “in the restaurant, in the kitchen going to the freezer.”
