Daniel Padilla denies that 'Sa Ngalan' glorifies hooligans
020514-Daniel_Main.jpgMore than being a high-octane action film, Daniel Padilla said that Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at mga Anak is actually a family film that audiences can learn lessons from. [Bale pinapakita po ‘yung] tulungan sa pamilya [at] pagtulong sa kapatid,” Daniel said during their film’s blog conference.

Led by Robin Padilla and Rommel Padilla, Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at mga Anak also includes Bela Padilla, Mariel Rodriguez, and Daniel as well as showbiz newbies RJ Padilla and Matthew Padilla. The joint project of RCP Productions and Star Cinema tackles the story of the notorious organized crime syndicate Kuratong Baleleng back in the ‘70s.

Of late, gangster themes have been the center of action films, like Boy Golden: Shoot to Kill, The Arturo Porcuna Story, and Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story. Do films like these in a way glorify the unconventional, vigilante way of hooligans? Daniel said that isn’t so. ‘Yung talagang sigurado ako magiging interesado sila,” he said.

Although the Got to Believe star admitted that he himself didn’t know anything about the infamous group prior to being involved in the film, he vouched that “nung nalaman ko naging sobrang interesado ako. Talagang ang galing po ng storya nila.”

Making this film, according to Daniel, has opened his eyes to certain things about people. Mga two years ago. Daniel played the role of Nato in Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at mga Anak.

In summary he said he realized that “ang buhay ay hindi parang isang fairytale.”

Daniel said he wants to work with the Padilla clan again.
