As her youngest daughter Kathryn turns 18 next month, Min Bernardo revealed that the Got to Believe star never intended to have a grand celebration. “Ayaw niya mag-debut.
Apart from most of her family and friends in showbiz, Kath's former high school classmates will also be joining her big day. “Yung daddy naman niya diyan lang naman ang Cabanatuan kaso yung isang ate niya hindi nag-debut ng bongga, kaalis lang kasi mag-aaral sa UK so nandun siya,” she said.
Mommy Min said they are still finalizing the details of the grand celebration, but admitted that even though Kath makes the decisions on the theme and her clothes, she is too busy with tapings to attend to the technical details of her party. “Oo naman siya talaga nag-de-decide. Kasi siya yung pinapili namin then yung pag meeting hindi siya pupuwede makarating so ako ang nag-a-attend kasi nag-te-taping siya. Super dami ng meetings kasi. Pero may theme na siyang pinili. Medyo makaluma, ganun. Talagang siya mismo ang pumipili,” she said.
Although the debut will be traditional in some ways, Kathryn's mom revealed that her daughter wanted to simplify it, like eliminating the usual cotillion. “Wala, ayaw na niya ng mga ganun. Ayaw niya ng mahabang programa which is na-eliminate yung cotillon pero yung roses, candles, and treasures yun lang ang ire-retain,” she said.
With the recent announcement of Daniel Padilla as her daughter's official escort for the night, Mommy Min said there was even no need for her approval. “Given naman yun eh. Sino pa ang gagawing escort? Alangan naman ang kuya, di ba?” she added.
Now that Kathryn is coming of age, fans continue to speculate if the two teens will finally admit that they are more than just “mag-MU” which they announced last year. Mommy Min said this is not an important detail to her because the two are under her constant guidance on the set. “Mature na silang dalawa. Sa akin, it doesn't matter kung 18, less than 18, more than 18, as long as lumugar ka.
When asked about how she felt about the controversial sleeping photo that Got to Believe director Cathy Garcia-Molina posted on Instagram, Mommy Min clarified, “Ala, natutuwa nga ako dun kasi ako pa nga ang nagturo pa kay direk Cathy nun. Sabi ko, 'Direk Cathy tingnan mo yung dalawa oh.'”
Her birthday wish for Kathryn is a simple one which the loving mother shared with PUSH. Super thankful kami especially this last few months ng 2013, napaka-suwerte, super.
