After doing three movies last year (Four Sisters and a Wedding, Tuhog, and Call Center Girl), Enchong Dee said he feels blessed to be part of another good project which reunites him again with Erich Gonzales whom he starred with in I Do in 2010. The two recently signed on to do the movie adaptation of Once Upon A Princess.
“Sinabi ko nga sa kanila na kinabahan ulit ako. Before pag gumagawa ako ng pelikula kahit papaano may confidence na alam mo it will turn out good. Dito parang wala akong expectations, everything’s a blank. Parang we’re just going to fill it up, whatever is going to happen sa shooting. So ngayon, honestly may takot (laughs),” he said.
After more than three years of working on separate projects, Enchong said he has yet to see the difference in Erich. Once Upon A Princess is set for a release date in mid-March. “Malalaman namin sa shooting yun kung may difference, pag nasa process na kami of working together on Once A Princess. Siguro kinailangan din namin yung time apart para since Katorse halos everyday kami for two to three years kaming magkasama and now three years din kami nagkaroon ng break and then magkakasama ulit kami, we’re hoping na sana naging mature kami along the way (laughs),” he admitted.
When it comes to the looks department, he admitted he is impressed by how even more attractive his co-star has become. “Pero si Erich pag kinompare mo yung mga photos niya before and now parang mas bumabata pa siya lalo,” he added.
When their love team took a break, Enchong took it as a good career move. “Siguro at an early age we knew na kailangan naming mag-grow apart as an actor and as an actress so nung sinabi rin sa amin na we’re going to go our separate ways, tinanggap namin yun kasi alam naman namin na marami kaming matututunan kapag may mga nakasama kaming ibang tao sa ibang proyekto. Now, working together again, whatever we got from our past shows apart, puwede naming ito dalhin dito and who knows mas magiging maganda yung results,” he said.
Enchong also admitted that he is lucky that he and Erich have natural chemistry. “I think yun yung edge naming dalawa eh kahit kanino, the moment na magsama kami nawawala yung inhibitions naming dalawa. Ewan ko kung bakit (laughs). Gamay namin yung isa’t isa kahit may tampuhan kami, pag magsama kami sa isang eksena parang wala. Kahit good mood kami tapos bad trip yung eksena, nagagawa pa rin namin. It’s weird but I think that’s what they call chemistry,” he explained.
Now that they are both older, Enchong said it’s about time they move on to do more serious drama and he said this movie is going to be different from their past romantic comedy. “Now we’re not getting any younger so definitely we just talked about it na it’s going to be mature, hindi siya rom-com, it’s going to be a romantic film. And I remember that the last romantic film that I did was I Do din, parang always it’s a different theme but never a romantic so this is the more mature story. So makikita nila yung jump from I Do to Once Upon A Princess,” he shared.
Fans of their love team “EnRich” have also made their presence felt to Enchong which he and Erich both appreciate. “Kasi nagugulat din kami, nagkikita na lang kami sa Instagram din, parang nandun din sila. They’re posting photos and when we announced na we’re going to do a movie together for 2014, parang all of a sudden bigla silang nabuhay and posting photos, editing photos, like even when we celebrated Christmas in two different countries, dinidikit nila yung photos! So you know na they never left us,” he said.
