021914-Dennis_Main.jpgFor actor-comedian Dennis Padilla, playing Kim Chiu’s father in the blockbuster film Bride for Rent is a dream come true. In an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph during the film’s victory party, Dennis shared that he has long wanted to be Kim’s onscreen father ever since she saw her act on TV some years back.

Tapos sabi niya, ‘Alam mo Tito Dennis sigurado ako in the future magiging tatay din kita,’” he happily shared.

According to the seasoned comedian, prior to taking on the role of Papsi in the film, he never knew that Kim would be the film’s lead star. Sabi nila ‘Kim Chiu.’ Sabi ko ay eto na. Kaya naman unang araw namin sabi ko ‘Kim this is it, ‘yung sinasabi ko sayo anak na kita,’” Dennis added.

With the film’s box office success, Dennis surmised that Kim would be an even brighter star than she already is this 2014. “I think this year grabeng level ng sikat ang aabutin ni Kim Chiu. Magugulat ang lahat. Kasi sa category sa mga bida parang nakikita ko dito she will be the future Maricel Soriano,” Dennis declared.

He likened the Ikaw Lamang actress to the Diamond Star because “Pwede sa love story, pwedeng comedy” and even the latter’s infamous “taray queen” aura. Parang Maricel Soriano noong araw,” Dennis explained.

Was he surprised that Kim did well in her second comedy role after Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush mo?

Being with Kim, he said, somehow reminded him of his very own daughter Julia Barretto with ex-wife Marjorie Barretto. “And I can relate very well to this movie because I have Julia na sumisikat rin, 16-year-old na nagdadalaga rin and when I was doing this movie, every time na I embrace Kim Chiu I remember my daughters that’s why doon sa ginawa ko sa pelikula, ‘yung totoong nangyayari kaya touching,” Dennis said.
