Currently busy with TV and movie projects as well as hosting duties on the daily noontime show It’s Showtime, Coleen Garcia said she is excited by all the blessings she has received from the Kapamilya network this year. Apart from signing on to do the Star Cinema rom-com Ex With Benefits with Sam Milby, Coleen is also part of the upcoming Primetime Bida series Pasion de Amor. “We had our first taping on November 11. This is a remake of a Colombian teleserye. It was popular in its time and it has a good story. My sisters here are Ellen Adarna and Arci Munoz and my partner here will be Joseph Marco. We will also be joined by Jake Cuenca, and Ejay Falcon,” she shared.
Coleen said that unlike her fun-loving persona on It’s Showtime, she enjoys playing more diverse and serious roles when she is acting. “I want it to be like that. I want that in every project I want to be able to say that you’re going to see a different Coleen. I want to be able to say that with every project that I do and my character in Pasion de Amor is very, very different from my character in Ex With Benefits so it’s going to be the most challenging part since I’m going to be juggling both at the same time. I have to be in character every time I’m on set so I guess that’s going to be the most challenging part about it,” she explained.
The mestiza beauty said that even if she will be acting with more mature actors in her projects, she can still relate to teen stars like Julia Barretto. “I’m 22 and I remember when I was in Julia’s position, yung mga bago ngayon na mga teenagers, I remember when I was a teenager and it really feels like it wasn’t so long ago,” she admitted.
When it comes to her relationship with It’s Showtime co-host Billy Crawford, Coleen said they couldn’t be any happier. “He gave his full support, 100% full support. He’s a stage boyfriend not in a sense that he gives me tips pero basta stage boyfriend siya (laughs). Pati yung food ko and everything, yung hours of rest ko, he always makes me feel like pinaparamdam niya yung suporta niya sa akin and I’m very blessed to have that especially now na I’m shifting to different things kasi. I’m trying things that I’ve never done before and ako mismo parang I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and what I really need most from him is support and he’s been giving that to me,” she said.
If given the right project, Coleen said she would even be willing to act with Billy as well. “I’m very open to it naman. Siyempre exciting din naman yun if ever that happens. We’re very good. He dropped me off here kanina. We’re going strong and every day we learn more and more about each other,” she added.
With showbiz couples getting hitched left and right, Coleen said she is not bothered by all the proposal hype. “Hindi naman ako nagmamadali. Siguro diyan hindi ako makikiuso (laughs). Sila na lang muna. All in its own time. I’m only just starting with where I am right now so all on its own time. I look forward to the day when I settle down and I have a family but definitely it can wait, years and years and years from now pa,” she said.
