Jolina Magdangal remembers “Jolina Day” and “Jolina Fever”

111414-jolina_main.jpgFinally a Kapamilya again, Jolina Magdangal talked about her popularity in the 90s, her family and how happy she is to have returned to her original TV network in Tapatan ni Tunying.

Jolina, who became known for her colourful outfits and trendy hairdos, proudly shared that she was able to keep her accessories in case she will need them for a “throwback” activity. She also recalled the “Jolina fever” when she became the crowd’s favorite trendsetter. Aside from having her doll versions, she remembered having a “Jolina day” inHawaii, “September 18 yata yun, parang ganon.  Kasi nagkaroon ng dalawang beses yung concert ko dun dahil hindi nagkasya yung tao dun sa isang araw pero ang kailangan lang talagang concert, isa lang.” She said that she was around 24 to 25 years old during that time.

As for the businesses she invested in during her heydays called Memory Lane and Jolina’s Fashion Gallery, the singer-actress said that her parents are the ones managing it.

Anthony Taberna also recalled Jolina working in Malacanang during former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s time. “Ang nangyari dati yung program po na ‘yun, para ‘yun talaga sa presidente kung ano ‘yung mga ginagawa niya tapos hanggang sa naging ano nga ako, parang youth advocate,” said the singer-actress.

During that time also, Jolina was a theatre arts major at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. She was the host of The Working President for 6 years. When asked if she became friends with the former president, Jolina said, “Hindi naman po sobrang close pero masaya ako na nainterview ko siya at saka nakakwentuhan ko siya tungkol sa apo niya.” Anthony also asked her if she thought of visiting Mrs. Arroyo. “Oo nga, ano? Bigla kong naisip. Why not? Kasi ang tagal ko rin sa kanyang nagtrabaho,” the actress remarked.

On her personal life, Jolina happily shared that hubby Mark Escueta has remained the ‘sweet boyfriend’ to her even though they are already married. Jolina also shared that she really prayed for a partner who loves music. She even added that the Rivermaya drummer has always been her crush.

As a mother to 8 and a half month old Pele, Jolina said that she is really a hands-on mother and that she’s still breastfeeding her son despite her busy schedule. “Proud na proud ako na may anak na po ako ngayon,” she admitted.

Regarding her upcoming show, Flordeliza opposite her former love team, Marvin Agustin, Jolina said that being a mother helped her in portraying her new role.

Overwhelmed with the warm welcome she is given, Jolina hopes to stay in her mother network for good. “Hopefully yes (for good na sa ABS-CBN),” adding that she already signed a two-year contract. “And ang sarap ng feeling kasi yung pakiramdam pa lang na babalik ako, sobrang saya ko na eh. Tapos nadagdagan pa ng may project ako agad. Kaya parang sobra-sobra yung binibigay sa’kin ng ABS… Sobrang saya,” she said.
