Darren will be staging the repeat of his sold-out first solo concert come December 19
The Voice Kids
runner-up Darren Espanto was nothing but grateful to his solid fans for filling the Music Museum to the brim during his first ever solo concert titled Darren Espanto The Total Performer
on October 4.
"Sobrang happy po ako at hindi ko po talaga ito in-expect and I feel very blessed kasi na sold-out din po ito and the concert turned out to be so enjoyable and great," shared Darren in an interview with the press after the concert.
The concert showcased not only his much-lauded vocal prowess but also his dancing skills as he grooved to various songs such as Jessie J's "Domino," One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful," Justin Bieber's "Somebody To Love" and a pop song medley of Pharell's "Happy," Jessie J and Ariana Grande's "Bang Bang" and Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off." But what truly got his audience on their feet and awed was his Michael Jackson medley number complete with the late King of Pop's costume and dance moves.
The Fil-Canadian heartthrob also walked back his fans to the memory lane as he performed songs from his The Voice Kids stint. Among them were Whitney Houston's "One Moment In Time," Beyonce's "Listen" and Vehnee Saturno's-composition "Ngayon," wherein he asked his Mommy Marinel to join him onstage.
Darren likewise performed Concert King Martin Nievera's "You Are My Song," with express permission from the latter through a short video clip. Apart from the covers, Darren gave his fans a chance to hear his original song "In Love Sa 'Yo," which will be part of his upcoming album that's slated to be released before the year ends.
Among Darren's guests for his show were his co-The Voice Kids contenders. Fil-Japanese Natsumi Saito and Geidie Laroco and Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2013 third placer Marion Aunor.
Since it was his first solo concert, Darren noted that the preparations had been long and rigorous.
"Marami po kaming ginawang rehearsals especially sa mga dance rehearsals kasi, arami rin pong dance number na ginawa tsaka nagvo-vocalize parin ako araw-araw," he said.
For someone as young as Darren, the success and support garnered by his first concert had been quite overwhelming. Since this first concert had been immediately sold-out Darren happily shared that he will be staging a repeat on December 19.
However, the venue, where the repeat would be held according to Darren, remains undecided because "We're hoping to put it to a bigger venue po."
Of the other The Voice Kids Top 4 composed of winner Lyca Gairanod and runners-up Darlene Vibares and Juan Karlos Labajo, Darren was the first to stage his first solo concert with a matching repeat. While many might see this as proof that he really deserved to win the tilt, Darren just brushed off the thought and accounted his success to God's blessings.
Does it mean that being a runner-up shouldn't deter a person from making it big?
The former Team Sarah member said, "Yes po just do your best always and always have confidence and believe in yourself and also believe in God because he will always be there for you."
