Kris Aquino revealed that she gave Derek Ramsay advice about the latter’s parental issues with estranged wife Mary Christine Jolly. “Kasi I went through something similar kaya marami akong nai-share sa kanya about it and I just said na … I told him, ‘Derek look at me and James (Yap) who would ever thought na kaya naming mag-share ng parenting? Naayos namin na in such a way na it took time and effort from both ends,” she said an interview with the press during the Chowking event on Tuesday, October 29, 2014.
The Queen of All Media stated that she advised Derek to make his son feel loved as much as possible. “What I was telling Derek I said na, ‘At the end of the day what you want to happen, you want your son to grow up feeling loved, secure and to have closeness kasi di ba inaamin naman ni Derek eh sa buong buhay niya limang beses pa lang sila nagsama and sabi ko coming from a mother of a son napaka-importante ng parental figure na lalaki and kahit sinong nanay kung magkukusa naman ‘yung tatay and ‘yun nag sha-share sa responsibility both financially and physical responsibility ‘yung being present dapat i-welcome mo ‘yun .”
She added, “I’ve learned to not be selfish about the love of my son kasi he is so much happier and I am also grateful because James respects boundaries also and I hope Derek takes this cue from us because it’s possible. Siguro mas malala pa ‘yung pinagdaanan namin [ni James] kaysa pinagdaanan ni Derek and Mary so I’m sure maayos nilang lahat yan kasi nasa tamang lugar naman lahat ng intentions nila para sa anak nila.”
Derek was sued by Mary Christine for allegedly failing to support their child, but reportedly settled in a “compromise agreement.” The details of the agreement were kept private.
Earlier this year, Derek was rumored to be dating Kris but the Aquino and Abunda host clarified in her previous interviews that they are just friends. Kris said that she is currently single.
