The Kapamilya actor says there are proper ways to claim paternity for a child.
After a nasty blind item recently claimed that he had already fathered a 16-year-old out of wedlock was posted in a local showbiz blog, John Lloyd Cruz says he is not surprised anymore by the accusation and considers it just one of the many occupational hazards of being a celebrity.
, I didn't know you had it in you! (laughs)," he shares during the launch of Jack 'n Jill Magic's new commercials and products at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas last October 29.
The 31-year-old celebrity ambassador for the brand also says that even if people did the math, it would be impossible for him to have fathered the teenager. "Kasi medyo may edad na (yung bata), nung kinuwenta ko parang lumalabas 15 years old ako nun. Malabo rin mangyari (laughs)," he admits. Lloydy says that even if he and the teenager were to meet face-to-face, he would have a clear conscience in saying he is not the parent.
As he gets ready to leave the country for a vacation overseas, Lloydy says he has not even had time to discuss the issue with girlfriend Angelica Panganiban and his family. "Hindi namin napag-usapan. Ay oo nga ano, napaisip tuloy ako. Hindi namin talaga napag-usapan," he admits. To show that he still sympathizes with the teenager searching for his biological father, Lloydy says there are better channels to go through that can prove legitimacy. Siguro puwede mo puntahan yung employer niya. For my case siguro puwede ka pumunta sa ABS-CBN at hanapin ako.
Even though he admits he is not even ready to walk down the aisle anytime soon, The celebrity ambassador says taking on the responsibility of becoming a father is an even bigger role for him and will be planned accordingly when he starts his own family. "I'll become a father pag ready na. Hindi pa. Siguro in the next few years.
