In an interview with Tapatan ni Tunying’s Anthony Taberna, actress Gretchen Barretto shared how passionate she is with her career.
Starring in the Star Cinema film, The Trial, Gretchen said that it is her dream to do a Chito Roño film and found it inspiring to work with John Lloyd Cruz. She further said that for this particular movie, she underwent workshops and script readings. “Kinalkal ko lahat ng emotions, lahat ng masakit sa’kin and then I put it aside. Until siguro mga three to five minutes before kukunin yung eksena hanggang sa lumabas. That’s how I do it,” said Gretchen. Despite the challenges of acting, she said that this is something she loves to do.
Sharing that she is a devotee of i, Gretchen said that she really prays for her career, “Every time I pray for my career, I always say ‘I lift up to you everything.’ You know what’s best for me. So ibigay niyo sa’kin kung anong nararapat. So mapalad ako dahil parating binibigay sa’kin yung pinakamagagandang pelikula,” she said, adding that she feels overwhelmed to be entrusted with big projects even though she thinks there are better actors than her. With regards to the acting awards that she received, she said that she got them through persistent prayers as well.
Comparing her life to her role as a doctor in The Trial, Gretchen said, “I think yung pagiging passionate ng doktora na role ko. I am very passionate also. Anything that I love, yung passion ko for it… Sa career niya, ganoon din ako, I’m very passionate with my career. Pag nandiyan, pinag-iigihan ko talaga.”
