Coming right on the heels of rumors that Diamond Star Maricel Soriano would be returning her recently-won Best Actress trophy for the film Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy at the Metro Manila Film Festival was comedian Vice Ganda's claim that she deserves the award.
This latest controversy was spurred by the recent claims of the Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel producers when their bet was seemingly snubbed on the recently-concluded film festival.
While this rumor had been disproven by Maricel's manager Shirley Kuan via a comment on a Facebook post about the issue.
"Happy new year nalang sa mga umaasa na isoli ni Maricel ang award. May mga nangangarap talaga ng secondhand award? Maricel won Best actress fair and square and deservedly so. Watch her performance first. Ayoko na sanang patulan pero sige pagbibigyan ko na kayo para happy kayo sa new year. Kawawa naman kayo eh! Push!" she wrote.
As the lead actor of the box office film, Vice, during his recent appearance on Buzz ng Bayan addressed the issue as well.
