Toni Gonzaga on her new show: 'Mahirap pala yung 'pag may asawa'

013114-Toni_Main.jpgWith her new sitcom Home Sweetie Home enjoying top ratings every weekend, Toni Gonzaga admitted she is happy to be playing the role of John Lloyd Cruz's wife onscreen.

Alam naman natin na napakahusay niya bilang isang actor at first time pa niyang mag-ko-comedy so excited din ako katrabaho for the first time sina kuya Rico J. Puno at si Miss Sandy Andolong at si direk Bobot Mortiz first time din ako ma-di-direct dito so madami akong matututunan sa kanya,” she admitted.

Toni said her new show hopes to be as iconic as Dolphy's unforgettable ‘80s family sitcom John En Marsha, but not to copy it exactly. Sa amin siguro the sitcom was inspired by the show but we don't want to claim that we're the new replacement or we are going to be the next. We just want to be our own brand na yung bago for this generation,” she shared.

The talented host-actress said she is proud to be part of a show that espouses good Filipino values. Sa values madami, since this is an ABS-CBN show, we hold on to the core values of ABS-CBN which is family-oriented, it's all about loving the family and Pinoy culture, yung pagmamahal ng mga anak sa kanilang mga magulang at yung close family ties makikita natin. Kasi I had the same situation before with my cousins, may mga pinsan ako na kasal na and talagang kasama nila yung magulang nila sa iisang tahanan. At saka normal talaga yung nakikialam yung mga biyenan at mga magulang,” she said.

Another challenge for Toni is going out of her comfort zone, which is hosting. And more than performing, masaya kasi magtrabaho sa sitcom kasi bumubuo ka ng pamilya. So once that you all become a family, it's easier to deliver, to work every week kasi may bago kang inspirasyon sa trabaho which is yung mga kasama mo,” she said.

Home Sweetie Home is also a milestone for Toni because she plays the role of a married woman for the first time. She revealed it took almost two days to shoot her first scene in bed with Lloydy. Kasi dati 22 or 23 ako parang alanganin. But now that I'm 29 nasa tamang edad rin ng babae na may asawa, nasa tamang panahon na gumawa kasi parang it’s also about time to venture into something different aside from yung mga kilig kilig.

This year, the Home Sweetie Home actress said she just wants to appreciate all her blessings in her career. Kasi di ba, ‘Many are the plans in a man's heart but it's always his purpose that prevails.’ Parang this 2014 I will just let it go. I will just go with whatever He's going to give me and bless me with. Wala akong ipa-plano this year. Kung ano yung trabaho at proyektong ibigay, gagawin ko na lang yung best ko so that when the next opportunity comes I will have a feeling na, 'I earned it, na deserve ko siya,'” she said.
