During a candid interview on Bandila last January 9 with host Boy Abunda, Charice said she is looking forward to a better year in 2014. She admitted that the day she came out with her true sexuality was the day she was most thankful for last year. “Siguro nagpapasalamat ako na nagkaroon ako ng lakas ng loob that day. That day na nagpakatotoo ako and told the world kung sino ba talaga ako. Ang dasal ko siyempre nagpapasalamat ako sa lahat ng blessings at ipinauubaya ko kay God yung mga magiging pangyayari pa sa buhay ko,” she admitted.
The 21-year-old international singing sensation said she never expected that her admitting to being gay would result in international news. “Kasi napaka-unexpected din nung time na nag-come out ako. I never thought na talagang lalabas siya worldwide din. As in yung news talaga, umabot siya sa ABC, sa NBC and everywhere pati sa mga articles and everything so hindi ko in-expect yun (laughs). Nagulat na lang ako,” she shared.
There were even rumors that she was invited to The Ellen Show again where she had first been invited to perform as a child singer back in 2007 after she was discovered on YouTube. “Hindi naman kami nagkaron ng pormal na pag-uusap pero may plans talaga. Pero this year ang daming gagawin. First time na gagawin ko yung world tour and excited ako dun. I'm just trying to take things one step at a time since this 2014 gusto ko parang ito talaga yung start. Kasi last year parang I came out pero siyempre it was a still a little bit hard for me. So ngayong taon na it, gusto ko na fresh lahat,” she shared.
Apart from being busy doing provincial mall shows to promote her newest album Chapter 10, Charice said she is also excited to start her world tour which will take her to countries like Dubai, US, Canada, and Australia. “Excited ako kasi sobrang pinaghandaan ko ito not only sa set list but siyempre physically everything pinaghandaan ko. About sa songs, siguro ito talaga yung time na bumili ng ticket to see (laughs), yun yung Charice,” she said.
When it comes to patching things up with her family after her mother refused to accept her relationship with fellow singer Alyssa Quijano, Charice said she understands where her mother Raquel Pempengco is coming from and is willing to wait until her girlfriend is accepted. “Kasi dati magkalaban kami ni Alyssa, kumbaga ang tingin na ni mommy sa amin—siyempre yung mommy ni Alyss—siyempre rivalry. Alam niyo yun. I think until now yun pa rin yung nasa isip ni Mommy. And siyempre hindi pa rin ma-sink in sa kanya yung fact that I love her. Siyempre when it comes to family, hindi lang naman yung pamilya ko pero lahat ng pamilya, meron naman talagang time na magdadaan sa time na meron akong desisyon na hindi magugustuhan ni mommy at meron din naman time na may desisyon siya na hindi ko rin magugustuhan but ang alam ko lang is ang ending nito ay magkakaintindihan kami dahil mahal ko siya, mahal niya ako and I know that,” she said.
Charice had a message for her mom and her brother whom she wasn't able to spend the holidays with. “Ang gusto ko lang sabihin kay mommy at kay Carl siyempre I miss you both and kahit na anong challenges yung pareho nating nakukuha right now... We're family and we're not alone. I know may iba rin na may sitwasyon na ganito and that's why I'm confident that someday everything's going to be okay,” she said.
The talented singer also finally put to rest the issue that she tried to commit suicide last year. “Ito masasabi ko ng una at huli po, mahal ko po ang buhay ko,” she said.
