Currently playing the role of Zenaida Ramirez in the new Primetime Bida series Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin, Dawn Zulueta admitted she was excited that her newest soap finally started airing. “We're all very excited kasi nagkaron ng konting delay. We were expecting na lalabas ito sometime last summer pero na-delay nga ng konti so ngayon finally nag-ere na kami,” she said.
The 44-year-old actress said she enjoys playing the role of Gerald Anderson's mother in the drama series. “Oo naman. Talagang I think mas na-enjoy ko yung company ng cast members at saka ng production. Okay naman kami ni Gerald. Siya na yung tinuturing kong bagong anak, silang dalawa ni Coco (Martin) (laughs). Ay naku, he's such a sweet boy. He's very smart at saka gusto ko siya kasi malambing talaga siya sa nanay niya,” she told Push.com.ph
Similar to her previous roles in hit teleseryes like Walang Hanggan and Mula Sa Puso, Dawn said she has gotten used to playing maternal roles. “Nanay din ako dito just like in the past. Pero iba naman ang characterization ko dito sa teleseryeng ito. Matapang si Zenaida pero yung pinaghuhugutan niya iba sa nakita niyo in the past na nagawa ko sa mother roles ko. So bukod pa dun yung buong storya naiiba talaga so mother's story siya talaga. This is really a mother's story,” she explained.
Dawn said her decision to accept a role in Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin was something unexpected, but her husband, Davao Del Norte representative Antonio Lagdameo, still supported her in her new project. “Nag-react lang naman siya kasi nung time na dapat mangangampanya kami last summer. Pero instead of mangampaya ako ng full time sa Davao, I ended up taping. Yun lang naman eh. Pero it's only a few weeks lang naman tapos I had the last two weeks of the campaign I spent it all in Davao. And then now tuloy-tuloy na kami, malapit na nga kami matapos eh. Nakapondo na talaga kami ng episodes,” she shared.
Another good piece of news that Dawn shared is that her much-anticipated reunion movie with former love team partner Richard Gomez is pushing through with shooting starting hopefully later this year. “Right now balita ko inaayos pa nila yung script. Pinagaganda pa talaga ni direk Chito Roño at ni Ricky Lee so nag-aantay kami ng word kung kailang mag-uumpisa ng shooting,” she said.
The talented actress admitted she also can't wait to be back on the big screen again. “Siyempre gusto nating magmadali kasi ang promise namn mag-sho-showing kami within the year and September na so kung gusto nila baka November or December pero we have to start shooting soon,” she added.
Dawn admitted she also wouldn't mind in case her movie with Richard ends up as a Valentine offering for 2014. “Why not? Puwede din (laughs). Pero sigurado yan talaga, promise namin yan sa lahat ng Chard-Dawn fans,” she said.
