Megan wrote herself a page in the Philippine beauty pageant history by bringing home the first ever Miss World title 47 years since the the country first joined the prestigious pageant.

Besting over 126 other international candidates, Megan emerged as an early crowd favorite even earning herself a few extra awards during earlier challenges prior to the coronation night. Among them were the Top Model challenge where she became the winner, the Beach Fashion pre-pageant challenge where she finished on the fifth spot, and the Multimedia Contest where she placed fourth. Megan likewise topped the pageant's leader board early on the coronation night.

In addition, the 23-year-old actress was also among the few candidates who participated in the Talent Portion where she showcased the classic Maranao dance Singkil.

The coronation night held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center was hosted by English singer Myleene Klass and Mister World 2010 Kamal Ibrahim featured cultural performances by the participating candidates and performances from British boyband Blue.

Megan wore an immaculate form-fitting Francis Libiran pink gown during the event's much-awaited Question and Answer portion where the remaining Top 6 were asked "Why should you become Miss World?"

According to Megan, as an individual that treasures the "core value" of humanity, which according to her, guides individuals to "act the way they do," she will take advantage of being the crowned winner in showing ways to other people "how they can understand each other" and eventually work "as one, to help society."

Towards the end of the night, Megan, who earned one of the loudest cheers from the audience during the entire evening, didn't forget her mother country soon as she received the crown as she tearfully exclaimed, "Salamat sa mga kababayan ko. Mahal na mahal ko kayo."

While Megan was the first to take home the top prize in the said pageant, several other beauty queens were able to finish with strong performances as well. Among them were Gwendoline Ruais who placed 1st runner up in 2011 and Queenirich Rehman who finished at the Top 15 in 2012.
