Comedy box office queen Ai Ai delas Alas has turned serious as she sincerely apologized to President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III whose name was being dragged into her legal battle with estranged husband, Jed Salang.
Her apology comes right on the heels of a news item alleging that the President was purportedly meddling on their ongoing case, a claim which was made by Jed’s lawyer.
“Ako, humihingi ako ng paumanhin para sa sarili ko, kasi nakakahiya naman sa Presidente, nakakahiya sa Malacañang, na pati yung mga pangalan nila nadadawit sa domestic problem namin ng husband ko. Eh, mali yun,” she said via a taped interview aired on The Buzz on Sunday.
Ai Ai took the initiative to remind her estranged husband’s counsel that they have an ongoing gag order as issued by the court.
"Anytime, hindi kami puwedeng magsalita. Ako, ingat na ingat ako na magsalita about that. And maling-mali yun na anytime naisip niya na gusto niyang magpa-interview,” Ai Ai lamented.
Instead of making false accusations about the most powerful man in the country, the Kung Fu Divas actress suggested that the counsel just lend a minute of his time to pray for the ongoing Zamboanga siege which has already cost so many lives.
“Kasi ang dami ng problema ng Malacañang, ang dami ng problema ng ating Presidente, bakit pa naman ako dadagdag? Di ba naman, nakakatawa naman yun. Nakakatawang nakakaasar,” said the veteran actress.
Last Wednesday, Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda has already clarified that the President has his hands full about Zamboanga and other far important national concerns to even worry about Ai Ai’s personal problem.
Many presuppose that PNoy’s name has been involved in this issue due to the fact that the Toda Max star is a dear friend of his sister, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino. But Ai Ai once again reiterated that the President has nothing to do with her personal life.
“Diyusko naman, alangan naman pati lovelife ko ba naman isipin pa ng Presidente natin. Lovelife nga ni Friendship [Kris], hindi niya iniisip, lovelife ko pa ba?” she asked.
Prior to this meddling issue, Ai Ai, who confessed to being physically abused by her husband last May, has been rumored to have been assigned a few Presidential Security Guards (PSG) to provide protection.
According to the actress, she has repeatedly corrected that those bodyguards are not from PSG but are in fact from the Philippine National Police (PNP) whom she’s paying with money from her own pocket.
“Yung mga kasama ko hindi naman marami, dalawa lang sila. PNP [Philippine National Police] yun. And ako ang nagpapasuweldo doon. Hindi ako nagnanakaw sa bayan, hello!” quipped Ai Ai.
She added, “Oo, part yun ng protection ko para sa sarili ko, and ako ang nagbabayad doon. Syempre naman, problema ko ito, eh. Bakit ko naman sila isasali?”
As for her friend Kris, Ai Ai added that the Kris TV host has never got herself involved on her personal problems either as she only acts as one of her most ardent confidantes.
"Basta nakikinig lang iyan ng mga problema ko, pero never naman siyang nagganun,” insisted Ai Ai.
As for the support that she’s been getting from Kris, who herself also has a standing case with her own estranged husband James Yap, she revealed laughingly, “Friendship, ganun. Tapos pandidilatan nila lang ako. Yun ang support niya, yung pandidilat.”
