The Top 8 finalists of The Voice of the Philippines share their strengths

<div><img src='' alt='092013-thevoice_main.jpg' width='305' height='290' align='left' border='0'>As <i>The Voice of the Philippines </i>nears its grand finals night on September 29, the top eight finalists battle it out for the top four slots this coming weekend. Thor Dulay and Janice Javier of Team Apl, Klarisse de Guzman and Morissette Amon of Team Sarah, Radha Tinsay and Mitoy Yonting of Team Lea, and Myk Perez and Paolo Onesa of Team Bamboo impressed the local media with their performances during their press conference held last September 18, Wednesday, at the Dolphy theater inside the ABS-CBN compound.</div><div><br/></div><div>Each contestant shared their individual strengths and what they considered their advantage over their competitors this weekend. For Team Kawayan's Paolo, he clarified that there is no personal rivalry between him and Myk, but it will be up to the audience to decide whom they prefer. The two have been consistent in being among the top ranked in the previous poll results. “<i>Dito kasi sa The Voice hindi yun yung basehan, hindi talaga basehan kung guwapo ka or maganda ka. Talagang boses pa rin. Ayun, may sariling</i> style<i> siya, may sariling </i>style <i>ako. Ang masasabi kong advantage siguro is wala akong hawak na gitara. Mas nakakagalaw ako, mas nakaka</i>-interact <i>sa</i> audience, <i>yun lang naman kasi magkakilala naman kami talaga. Yun lang naman ang</i> advantage <i>siguro</i>,” he admitted.</div><div><br/></div><div>Myk said his natural confidence could give him an edge over Paolo. “<i>Sa nakikita kong</i> every performance <i>naming dalawa, sa akin kasi, pag nasa</i> stage <i>na ako, wala na talaga akong hiya eh</i> (laughs). As in <i>kung </i>project, project. If happy <i>yung</i> song <i>ko gumagalaw ako. Kung malungkot yung</i> song <i>ko, pino</i>-project <i>ko talaga. Si</i> Pao <i>kasi pag-nag</i>-<i>pe-</i>perform <i>hindi ko alam pero parang may halo sigurong kaba or medyo nako</i>-conscious<i> pa siya</i>,” he explained.</div><div><br/></div><div>Former recording artist Thor admitted his past experiences will help him when he goes up against Team Apl co-member Janice. “<i>Siguro ang</i> advantage <i>ko siguro nagkaroon na ako ng</i> album, <i>kahit papaano may nakabili ng</i> album<i> na yun at mabubuhay yung mga humahnga sa akin dati pa.</i> So<i> isa yun sa mga </i>advantages<i> ko. Marami ding mga</i> celebrities <i>na sumusuporta</i>,” he admitted.</div><div><br/></div><div>Janice, on the other hand, said even though her experience as a singer is different, can still be beneficial to her in the long run. “<i>Ang</i> advantage<i> ko kay</i> Thor,<i> kung dito madami siyang</i> supporters,<i> ako kasi </i>I’ve travelled a lot. Half of my life <i>bumabiyahe ako</i> as a singer so<i> madaming nakarinig sa akin. Siguro yung iba natuwa, yung iba hindi masyado, yung iba</i> okay. <i>Siguro magiging</i> supportive <i>sila</i> this time l<i>alo na meron tayong </i>voting. <i>At saka siguro pagdating naman sa </i>performance, <i>sa tingin ko mas malakas ako kay</i> Thor<i> kasi ito mahiyain eh. Iba kasi yung</i> approach <i>namin eh</i>,” she added.</div><div><br/></div><div>Members of Team Sarah's camp Klarisse and Morissette also talked about what sets them apart from each other. The two belted out a duet of Adele's “Rolling in the Deep” during the presscon. “<i>Siguro yung</i> range<i> ni </i>Morissette<i> mas mataas pero mas</i> soulful <i>yung boses ko, mas iba, mas bagong tunog kasi mas madami ng bumibirit ngayon</i>. So<i> mas may bago akong ma</i>-<i>o</i>-offer <i>sa </i>music industry,” Klarisse said.</div><div><br/></div><div>As a former talent show contestant on another network, Morissette said she has more knowledge when it comes to performing. “<i>Ako naman yung</i> advantage <i>ko siguro</i> I would say is how I connect with the audience. <i>Kasi yung laging </i>comment <i>ni </i>coach Sarah<i> kay</i> Klarisse is <i>lagi lang siyang nakapikit.</i> So I will have to say that that is my advantage, <i>na tumitingin ako</i> and I’ve learned that with my experiences<i> dati. Galing na ako sa kabilang</i> network so I’ve already worked and <i>kahit papaano meron na akong naging mg</i>a supporters,” Morissette shared. </div><div><br/></div><div>Team Lea's Mitoy and Radha also chose to downplay going up against each other for a slot in the final four. The two are expected to give an explosive battle of powerhouse vocals in this weekend's <i>The Voice of the Philippines</i> semi-finals aired every Saturday, 9pm and every Sunday 8:15pm on ABS-CBN.</div><div><br/></div>
