Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Datul feels vindicated upon bagging the crown

091613-Mutya_Main.jpgMiss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul has put the country on the map recently after besting 82 women from around the globe and being the first Asian to bag the Miss Supranational crown.

Before competing in Belarus though for the international beauty pageant, not too many were impressed by the Isabela-bred IT student so much so that many thought that she didn’t deserve to win the Binibining Pilipinas-Miss Supranational 2012 title.
But she has proven all her detractors wrong.

And ngayon ito na nga,” she said during her live guesting with on The Buzz on Sunday.

Together with the crown, Mutya also won $25,000 in the international pageant which she says would go mainly for the medication and bone marrow transplant of her ailing mother who was diagnosed with a plastic anemia in 2011.

Not too many people know that despite being a pageant butterfly, in Isabela in particular, after joining a lot of local and regional pageants, Mutya’s journey to the elusive Miss Supranational crown almost didn’t happen because of her father.

But determined Mutya promised her father that she can survive and “makakamit ko yung pangarap ko na maging isang beauty queen.”
Now her life as a simple probinsiyana, as she calls herself, has undergone a complete 360-degree turn with her having to leave for Belarus next month and staying there for a while to fulfill her duties as the crowned winner.

“Yes yung nasa isip ko na magbabago na yung buhay namin and mas matutulungan ko na pamilya ko,” she said. However, at the end of the day “kapag binibigay ko na yung sash and crown sa Binibining Pilipinas then uuwi nako feeling ko is normal parin siya, normal parin si Mutya.”

At this point in her life, after having achieved her most sought dream, Mutya says she only has one wish left to be fulfilled.
