Herbert Bautista stars in 'Raketeros' with his real life pals

080813-Herbert_Main.jpgAccording to actor and Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista, the stars of Raketeros are tight friends in real life. Si Andrew E. talaga naman the icon of the ‘90s and novelty rock so magbabarkada ‘to, so hindi iba. Of course si Ogie (Alcasid) siya ‘yung pinaka-popular sa amin dito, tapos si Dennis (Padilla) barkada ‘yung mga tatay namin,” he shared during the grand presscon of the movie.

He relayed that they would have wanted to have their other pals to join them in the film but time did not permit it.

He said he was glad that they were able to come up with a buddy movie like Raketeros which took a while from happening in Philippine cinema. “It’s been a while that we are able to make a gang movie, with all due respect to all the other comedies. It’s been a while so tingin ko maganda ‘yung tiyempo,” Herbert said.

When asked what the differences are between the comedy before and today, Herbert remarked, “Hindi rin nagbago. ‘Yung comedy hindi naman nagbabago eh,yung nagbabago ‘yung pagde-deliver pero it’s the same.”

Director Randy Santiago who was also present during the presscon shared that the movie was inspired by the Hollywood film The Hangover. But he stressed that Raketeros has a unique storyline. “Una parang The Hangover ang gusto ni Mayor (Herbert Bautista) kasi nauso rin ‘yan lalakeng comedy, ‘yun so don na kami humawak pero siyempre as a director naman and as a writer ayaw namin ng parang kopyang-kopya, iba naman tayo kaysa [The] Hangover, ang importante lang lalaki ang dating,” Randy explained.

Randy said that he didn’t find it hard to direct the cast. He advised the stars to be as natural as possible in the film.
