Herbert Bautista stars in 'Raketeros' with his real life pals

<div><img src='' alt='080813-Herbert_Main.jpg' width='305' height='290' align='left' border='0'>According to actor and Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista, the stars of <i>Raketeros</i> are tight friends in real life. “[<i>Nabuo ang Raketeros</i>]<i> kasi </i>historical <i>na samahan yan eh, magbabarkada naman talaga kami at si kuya</i> Randy (Santiago) <i>ang pinaka-kuya talaga namin</i>. <i>Si</i> Long (Mejia) <i>naman kasama ko naman ‘yan, nagtrabaho sa</i> city hall ‘yan<i> eh nong wala pa siyang raket</i>. <i>Si</i> Andrew E.<i> talaga naman</i> the icon of the ‘90s and novelty rock so <i>magbabarkada ‘to</i>, so <i>hindi iba</i>. Of course<i> si</i> Ogie (Alcasid) <i>siya ‘yung pinaka-</i>popular<i> sa amin dito</i>,<i> tapos si </i>Dennis (Padilla) <i>barkada ‘yung mga tatay namin,</i>” he shared during the grand presscon of the movie.</div><div><br/></div><div>He relayed that they would have wanted to have their other pals to join them in the film but time did not permit it. “<i>Marami pa kaming dapat isama dito kaso lang hindi sila</i> available so<i> ito na muna at sa mga sumusunod na mga proyekto pa </i>if <i>pagbibigyan tayo ng</i> Star Cinema.”</div><div><br/></div><div>He said he was glad that they were able to come up with a buddy movie like <i>Raketeros</i> which took a while from happening in Philippine cinema. “It’s been a while that we are able to make a gang movie, with all due respect to all the other comedies. It’s been a while so<i> tingin ko maganda ‘yung tiyempo</i>,” Herbert said.</div><div><br/></div><div>When asked what the differences are between the comedy before and today, Herbert remarked, “<i>Hindi rin nagbago. ‘Yung</i> comedy <i>hindi naman nagbabago eh,</i> ‘<i>yung nagbabago ‘yung pagde</i>-deliver <i>pero</i> it’s the same.”</div><div><br/></div><div>Director Randy Santiago who was also present during the presscon shared that the movie was inspired by the Hollywood film The Hangover. But he stressed that <i>Raketeros</i> has a unique storyline. “<i>Una parang </i>The Hangover <i>ang gusto ni </i>Mayor (Herbert Bautista) <i>kasi nauso rin ‘yan lalakeng</i> comedy, ‘<i>yun </i>so <i>don na kami humawak pero siyempre </i>as a director <i>naman</i> and as a writer<i> ayaw namin ng parang kopyang-kopya,</i> <i>iba naman tayo kaysa</i> [The] Hangover, <i>ang importante lang lalaki ang dating</i>,” Randy explained.</div><div><br/></div><div>Randy said that he didn’t find it hard to direct the cast. He advised the stars to be as natural as possible in the film. “<i>Hindi po kami nahirapan na paartihin sila. Unang-una ang </i>instruction <i>lang po namin ay huwag kayong magpapatawa, kailangan natin dito situational </i>comedy <i>eh, ayaw namin nong</i> slapstic, <i>ayaw namin ‘yung nagpapatawa, gusto namin kung ano ang nangyayari sa sitwasyon, sakto lang ang ibibigay na</i> acting, ‘<i>yun po ang ibibigay sa atin ng ating mga artista,”</i> Randy relayed.</div><div><br/></div>
